SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Data Analysis and Information (ED ODAI), this position supports the Office of Policy Analysis and Information and other organizational programs by gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing data. The role contributes to advancing HACU's mission through data-driven insights and solutions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Sciences, Statistics, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in Minimum of five years of professional experience in higher education research, data management, and/or data analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are essential to successfully discharge the essential duties and responsibilities of this position.
  • Ability to develop presentations and effectively present information to senior leaders, as requested, and/or external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, within deadlines, and with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.


PREFERRED:

  • Experience in institutional research within a higher education environment.
  • Expertise in quantitative tools such as SPSS, SAS, SQL, R, or Python.
  • Proficiency in developing and running queries in complex data systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
  • Experience with online survey platforms like Qualtrics and content management systems such as WordPress.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work collaboratively and strategically in a team environment with all levels of professional, technical, and administrative staff to ensure the fulfillment of HACU's mission, goals, and objectives.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining dashboards and other data visualization projects to disseminate data and information effectively to campus constituencies.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of surveys, interviews, and other data collection methods in support of the organization's assessment efforts.
  • Assists in the collection and analysis of institutional data from diverse sources.
  • Collaborate with team members on research projects to identify trends and insights.
  • Work with organizational, institutional, state, and national data to respond to various ad hoc requests and monitor request progress.
  • Maintain data integrity and ensures adherence to organizational policies regarding data management.
  • The responsibilities listed are not exhaustive and may evolve; additional duties may be assigned based on departmental needs to support overall objectives.
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Employee will work a standard of 40 hours a week; however, longer hours may be necessary at times. This position is an exempt position and not eligible for overtime pay.
  • Conferences and events may take place in a hotel and/or convention center settings and require longer hours of work on a constantly changing schedule, including work on evenings and weekends.
  • Working conditions are in an office environment with long periods of sitting, occasional standing, walking, or moving between workstations.
  • Occasionally, the employee may need to lift items (files or paperwork) weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • Working conditions are in an office environment with sitting or standing, computer data entry, and answering phones.
  • Occasionally moves items weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasionally requires employee to squat, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach for items.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • Employee performs essential functions of the job in an office setting.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Maintains and ensures security of HACU-issued equipment, software, data, and supplies.
  • Travel may be required to perform essential functions.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
