Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) business unit is looking for Lead Automation QA Engineer with strong expertise validating data centered application. The role is high touch position with a notable amount of collaboration across teams in validating business solutions.

This individual is a multi-tasker at heart, with strong communication skills and a problem-solving mindset that thrives in a fast-paced organization. The ideal candidate would engage NTAM business leaders, understanding business needs, documenting test scripts and validating the solution.

Key skills required for the role:


  • Expertise in running data focused QA testing on Snowflake for complex business needs.

  • Strong QA foundation and ability to perform Integration testing, back-end testing, database validation skills and end to end manual testing.

  • Background working with key data domains as account, holding and performance within asset management space.

  • Hands on experience with one of the following programming language - Java, Python.

  • Extensive experience in Frontend, backend Testing and API Testing.

  • Hands on experience designing, developing and maintaining automation frameworks for enterprise application.

  • Database experience with SQL, snowflake or any relational databases.

  • Experience with end to end regression testing experience.

  • Basic knowledge of CI/CD, Azure DevOps and GitHub essential.

  • Knowledge of ETL patterns for data ingestion, processing, distribution and reporting.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Business or Finance or equivalent experience.

  • Intellectual curiosity, inclination for independent and self-directed work, and attention to detail.

  • Manage relationships with stakeholders and executive leadership to achieve business outcomes.

Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Prepare Test deliverables like detailed Test Plan, detailed Test cases, Regression Test Suite Test Results and Defect documentation.

  • Create and maintain Automation Test Suite and trace it to manual Test Suite in Azure Devops.

  • Understanding requirements from a business perspective and validate through testing and assessing them in the context of an Agile/Scrum delivery model

  • Deliver a bug free application to UAT/production by constantly looking for ways to uncover Defects with the use of complex real time test data.

  • Collaborate with Product Owners and Business Leads to refine and improve Test Coverage and deliver Quality

  • Support User Acceptance testing with End users and Product Owners

  • Define Testing Strategy and Automation Guidelines of Data Platform

  • Review test deliverables (test Cases, test Results and automation test scripts) from peers

  • Understand the SDLC activities expected to deliver custom developed applications

  • Assess and defining nonfunctional test scope (performance/security testing as needed)

  • Recommend improvements into overall best practices, design, testability, quality, and test Reports.

  • Identify and document best practices that our teams rely on to release with the highest quality and on schedule

  • Generate QA Dashboards to depict test Metrics especially around test automation

  • Manage relationships with all stakeholders, with a focus on setting expectations and maintaining ongoing client satisfaction through effective communication.

  • Mentor QA engineering team on data input, use and analysis leveraging testing pattern.

  • Contribute to a fast-paced Agile team and participate in multiple aspects of planning, documentation, execution, testing and launch of projects.
