Under the direction of the Executive Director, will staff, manage, plan and execute the workings of the Life Enrichment Department. Supervises the Life Enrichment Department and related staff and volunteers. Life Enrichment Directors ensure the implementation of the Front Porch Vitality Initiative by planning and carrying out comprehensive programming, activities and events addressing the six dimensions of whole person wellness. Management practices and policies support, facilitate and allow, as appropriate, entertainment, cultural, physical and other activities by, and for, residents which enrich their lives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

•Provides quality Customer Service efficiently to residents, families, co-workers and vendors in a manner to ensure satisfaction.

•Ensures the design and implementation of individualized programs and services to residents at every level of care in the community, including those in memory care who suffer from chronic cognitive disease such as Dementia & Alzheimer’s, skilled nursing and, those who need medical assistance and residents who are fully independent.

•Ensures active collaboration with outside community organizations. Works with residents toward efforts to benefit individuals, groups and organizations in the surrounding community.

•Works closely with all departments associated with activity programs.

•Staffs, trains and supervises Life Enrichment assistants and others who may interact with residents both at the community and elsewhere.

•Coordinates resident and outside community member volunteers needed for Life Enrichment programming.

•Is able to operate the appropriate technical equipment necessary to running a comprehensive activities program.

•Is able to perform administrative duties including the operation of common office equipment

•Is fiscally responsible for operating within the departmental budget.

•Directly supervise employees in the Life Enrichment department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws which include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

•Follows department safety standards, practice body mechanic techniques and participate in campus-wide safety programs.

•Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner. Wears PPE/safety equipment as required for the job. Reports any safety hazards and/or accidents to supervisor.

•Attends all mandatory meetings and in-services as required by the Executive Director.

JOB REQUIREMENTS and QUALIFICATIONS

•Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school;

•Two year’ full time activities experience in a social recreational or educational program within the past 5 years; or a qualified occupational therapist, art therapist, music therapist, dance therapist, recreation therapist, occupational therapist assistant or social worker; or completion of at least 36 hours training in a course designed specifically approved for this position.

•Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

•Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

•Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

•Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook; may need to use the internet for research and communication.
