YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Advocacy and Support:
    • Provide crisis intervention, safety assessments, and personalized planning for victims of domestic violence.
    • Assist victims with medical treatment, legal processes, and access to advocacy resources including child protective services and shelters.
    • Support Exceptional Family Member Program, Emergency Placement Care (EPC), and conduct EPC awareness and training sessions.
  1. Program Development and Management:
    • Recruit and train EPC providers in accordance with Army Regulation 608-18.
    • Develop and implement volunteer recruitment and utilization plans.
    • Submit comprehensive program plans and updates to the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) within required timelines.
  2. Collaboration and Outreach:
    • Partner with military and civilian medical, legal, law enforcement, and social service personnel to support victim advocacy.
    • Deliver educational briefings to Soldiers, Commanders, and civilian staff on domestic abuse prevention and response strategies.
  3. Administrative Duties:
    • Prepare and maintain program documentation, reports, and briefing materials.
    • Ensure compliance with Family Advocacy Program (FAP) and Victim Advocacy Program (VAP) standards.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field from an accredited institution.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in victim advocacy, including crisis prevention and safety planning.
  • At least one (1) year of EPC Coordination experience within a Military Family Support Center or similar civilian agency.
  • Valid, unrestricted motor vehicle license.

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Certification in Victim Advocacy is preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Knowledge and Expertise:
    1. Strong understanding of family violence dynamics, safety planning, and risk assessments.
    2. Familiarity with local, federal, and state regulations related to domestic abuse and victim rights.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
    1. Ability to develop trusting relationships, communicate effectively, and address diverse needs with cultural sensitivity.
    2. Skilled at maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in sensitive situations.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    1. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and database management systems.
  • Problem-Solving and Decision-Making:
    1. Ability to assess risk and provide appropriate interventions within high-pressure situations.
    2. Strong organizational and time management skills while balancing multiple priorities.

WORK CONDITIONS:

Work Environment:

  • This position requires flexibility to operate during extended hours. Flexibility for on-call hours may be required to meet mission needs.

Schedule:

  • Standard hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am. to 5:00 pm.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and transport materials for events and displays.
  • Mental and physical readiness to handle high-pressure situations involving victims and their families.

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be available for regional on-call travel to provide VA and PSB-CY services (within a fifty (50) mile radius).
  • Long-distance travel may be required for training, including one (1) Outside Continental United States (OCONUS) and one (1) Continental United States (CONUS) event annually.
