The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Comprehensive Oral Health houses several disciplines including, Periodontology, Dental Hygiene, Comprehensive Dentistry, Operative Dentistry/BioMaterials, Prosthodontics, and Endodontics. The Generalist discipline focuses on oral health and hygiene through preventive and restorative services.
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Adams School of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time, open rank faculty member in General Dentistry, Division of Comprehensive Oral Health. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assuring safe and effective delivery of patient care, providing didactic and clinical education, course and curriculum leadership in special needs, summative and formative student assessment and leading small group seminars. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in teaching at the pre-doctoral and graduate levels; collaborate with pre-doctoral and graduate program directors on the creative design and implementation of ongoing interactive curriculum; participate in duties consistent with school and university requirements for performance and scholarship; and participate in the UNC Adams School of Dentistry Dental Faculty Practice. The position also offers continuing education and professional service.
Candidates must have a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS/DMD) degree or equivalent, and be eligible for a North Carolina dental license or instructor license.
Minimum of five years of experience in educating dental students in preclinical and/or clinical settings, or minimum of five years of experience in private general practice, or completion of an advanced dental education program. Candidates must demonstrate excellent clinical credentials, supervisory, organizational, mentoring, customer service, written and verbal communication skills, and a strong background in all aspects of general dentistry, including provision of care to individuals with special needs. Candidates should have experience in organizational and interpersonal skills, leadership, and a demonstrated ability to promote inclusivity and collegiality.
