As the Director of Risk Management and Treasurer at RXO, you will play a crucial role in shaping and executing the company's risk management strategy and insurance program. Your responsibilities will encompass the procurement and administration of diverse insurance policies, including property, casualty, general liability, cyber, and executive risks. Additionally, you will oversee the management of RXO's captive insurance entity. This position also involves assisting in the strategic direction and management of treasury activities, ensuring alignment with the company's overall financial objectives.

What your day-to-day will look like:


  • Negotiate and renew insurance policies to ensure optimal coverage at minimized costs.

  • Determine and manage risk retention levels and limits of insurance.

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with insurance brokers and providers.

  • Coordinate between internal stakeholders, insurance entities, and legal representatives regarding insurance matters.

  • Review company practices and liability experience to inform the development of effective policies, training, and programs aimed at reducing liability claims costs.

  • Establish and implement procedures for timely notification and reporting of claims and litigation to appropriate internal and external parties.

  • Analyze exposure risks linked to claims and litigation, ensuring appropriate reserves are established and maintained.

  • Monitor the progress of litigation and represent the organization in alternative dispute resolutions, settlement conferences, and trials as needed.

  • Oversee the claims reporting process, payment authorizations, and invoice reconciliation.

  • Provide actuarially derived budgetary guidance to management.

  • Manage cash flow tracking, develop forecasts, and implement strategies for optimization while overseeing banking relationships.

  • Ensure effective investment of incremental cash and maintain funding in bank accounts for daily transactions.

  • Centralize and optimize global cash management for investment opportunities.

  • Measure and manage foreign exchange exposures, including the application of forward contracts.

  • Optimize bank fees to enhance overall financial efficiency.

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of applicable insurance policies and monitor significant developments in liability matters and coverage issues that could affect the organization’s risk exposure.

What you’ll need to excel:

At a minimum, you’ll need:


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience

  • 10 years of risk management or insurance industry experience or other relevant experience.

  • Proven ability to work with non-insurance professionals on budget developments, and risk administration.

  • Moderately proficient in Excel

It’d be great if you also have:


  • Relevant insurance certifications

  • 3 years proven success in a leadership role.
