Compensation

The base hourly rate for this position is $28.00.

Compensation

Starting Pay is $31.99/hr + $0.70 shift differential for (11pm - 7am) + Call in Pay + OT opportunities

Shift: Mon – Sat* (6am - 2pm) *If production is running*

Johns Manville is hiring Industrial Electrician(s) at our Rockdale, IL site (Near Joliet). We are searching for individuals who are dependable, responsible and quality-minded who have a history of working safely in a manufacturing environment. We need an experienced, motivated individual who possesses both a strong electrical and mechanical background within a manufacturing environment.

The Rockdale, IL location manufacturers fiber base coverboards primarily for commercial flat roofs. The facility also houses the Johns Manville Roofing Division Midwest Distribution Center.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Inspect, assemble, install, and repair all electrical AC and DC circuits, instrumentation, switchgear, motors, and other electrical equipment throughout the plant.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance tasks as prescribed by Plant Supervision.
  • Aid Plant Mechanics and Operations personnel in resolving day-to-day equipment problems.
    Reads, comprehends and capable of understanding basic electrical prints and mark up for electrical installations.
  • Has the ability to safely use basic hand tools and equipment.
  • Keeps up to date on all requirements of national electrical codes, OSHA, NFPA 70E and company rules and complies with them.
  • Works on and sometimes supervises others including contractors for installation, operations, inspection, maintenance, testing, and location of trouble on all types of electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Self-motivated to work from electrical diagrams, manuals, personal knowledge, and other materials in troubleshooting and making proper electrical installations.
  • Performs voltmeter, ammeter, megohmmeter and use of various electrical test equipment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of control systems and PLC and VFD’s.
  • Should be capable of using a computer and computer-based maintenance programs.
  • Adhere to all Johns Manville safety procedures and policies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of SAP

What You Bring to the Team

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to stand, walk, and use tools continuously as well as frequently reach, climb stairs and lift up to 50lbs.
  • Troubleshooting experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), AC/DC drives and basic instrumentation (temperature, level, pressure).
  • Working knowledge of basic electrical equipment.
  • Ability to tolerate working from heights and elevated temperatures.
  • Good hearing, vision (color), speaking, and finger dexterity skills.
  • Basic Computer skills and the ability to understand technical prints, charts, and diagrams.
  • Working Knowledge of SAP or other Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Ability to pass a drug screening and background check.
