POSITION SUMMARY
The consumer advocate will demonstrate warmth, hopefulness and enthusiasm in their work on behalf of consumers and will have a personal philosophy which is person-centered and embodies wellness, recovery and resiliency.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Greeting and welcoming individuals in a warm, engaging manner.
• Fostering a sense of safety and comfort by engaging with individuals and companying them to the living room area.
• Sitting with individuals to discuss issues which brought them to the Center.
• Explaining what to expect from our services
• Offering reassurance and encouragement
• Assuring consumers that they are available to them through their involvement with the program.
• Assisting consumers in developing WRAP crisis plans or Psychiatric Advance Directive
• Supporting individuals through their involvement with the program and in their transition to clinical and community supports
• Documentation must be completed within one (1) calendar day of service delivery
• Productivity goals shall meet % as designated by department
Qualifications:
Experience: Peer position that requires that the applicant self-declare past or current treatment for a mental illness. The consumer advocate will be a consumer with demonstrated volunteer or paid work experience providing case management, support and advocacy with individuals with serious mental illness.
Valid NJ driver's license for use of Company Vehicle
