The Account Manager ensures each project and client service deliverable is executed flawlessly. This individual has the knowledge, drive, and ability to manage a book of business and consult with Retirement Services clients to effectively manage their employer-sponsored retirement program(s). The Account Manager is integral in retaining clients by working with Client Service Representatives, Producers, recordkeepers, and other resources to plan and execute customized client service. Additionally, they will build effective working relationships with each client. This individual understands plan design, compliance, and industry best practices and takes initiative to remain current on industry and market issues. The Account Manager effectively communicates with the participants of the retirement plans they service through one-on-one discussions and leading group education sessions. The Account Manager mentors their Client Service Representatives, leverages resources efficiently, and establishes strong working relationships within the company. The Account Manager collaborates with the Client Services Director to help create efficiencies and improvements within the team.
Execution of Client Service
Leverages employer-sponsored retirement plan knowledge and communication skills to explain plan design, platform/program options, ERISA regulations, and other issues and options to clients as needed
Confirms clients understand and complete annual regulatory obligations, such as year-end testing and Form 5500 filing, in a timely and compliant manner
Supports clients through necessary correction processes, such as late contributions and deferral errors
Works as a liaison between the client and their recordkeeper/provider to resolve issues, while maintaining control of the end resolution
Ensures the completeness and accuracy of executive summaries and paperwork specific to the investment review and client onboarding processes
Follows internal processes to onboard new clients and takes the initiative to establish a strong relationship with the new client right away
Oversees and tracks changes to clients' investment lineup, plan documents, pricing structure, or record-keeper/provider service agreements
Reviews clients' plan documentation upon amendment or restatement to ensure accuracy, and communicates with the client to confirm or explain any changes
Acts as the project manager for client plan transitions and/or start up plans
Assists with payroll integration projects between client's payroll provider & recordkeeper/provider
Works with Producer/Lead Consultant, service team, and other resources to successfully execute the service strategy
Collaborates with clients on employee education needs and delivers resources in alignment with the client's service agreement, goals, and internal communication standards
Manages time effectively to ensure workload is prioritized, client needs are addressed, and MMA Midwest's expectations on client service and business process are met
Data Integrity and Process Quality
Maintains accurate and complete client data in applicable management systems
Follows internal processes and procedures, maintaining appropriate and clear documentation within client files along the way
Relationship Management and Provider Partnership
Works with the recordkeeper/provider service team to effectively manage and oversee the implementation of new business and ongoing client maintenance tasks
Proactively evaluates plan design & remains current on industry trends and legislation
Follows up with recordkeeper/provider on renegotiated fee structures and plan design amendments
Maintains positive working relationships with recordkeeper/provider, attends meetings and events as appropriate, and proactively learns about their platforms and service offerings
Maintains positive working relationships with clients, attends client as well as prospective client meetings and events as appropriate
Peer Relationships and Self-Development
Participates in ongoing scheduled meetings with the team to discuss accounts, plan transitions, day to day service needs, service platform, etc.
Actively working towards the obtainment of FINRA Licensing: Securities Industry Essentials Exam (SIE), Series 6, and Series 66 (or Series 63 & 65); Series 65 must be obtained within the first 120 days of employment
Trains, guides, and mentors other team members as needed
Communicates effectively with team and provides timely and complete information to allow them to efficiently manage their processes and workload
Creates successful and effective working relationships with Producers, other team members, managers, recordkeepers/providers, and employees in other agency departments
Participates in seminars, classes, and webinars for skill and knowledge development
Required
2+ years Account Manager experience servicing/supporting employer-sponsored retirement plans
Intermediate or advanced skill level with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Series 65 obtained upon hire
Preferred
BS/BA in Business or related field
FINRA Licensing: Securities Industry Essentials Exam (SIE), Series 6, and Series 66 (or Series 63 & 65) & good standing with FINRA
Life/Health License (in state of residence)
Industry specific professional designations (e.g. CRPS, AIF, CPFA)
