Job Summary
The UPS Sustainability Team is responsible for aligning, creating, and executing UPS's enterprise-wide strategies and initiatives that enable the achievement of sustainability targets and commitments. This includes collaboration across multiple internal and external stakeholders as well as improvement of internal controls, enhanced disclosure compliance and stronger analysis. The Sustainability Reporting Director is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and transparency of the company's sustainability data, to support compliance with emerging sustainability regulations. The role requires extensive coordination across the company, robust business acumen, the ability to synthesize complex information, and experience leading and successfully executing large projects.
Key Roles and Responsibilities include:
Develop strong understanding of Sustainability reporting frameworks (CSRD, SEC, CSDDD) and regulatory requirements to advise on the impact to UPS
Create and manage robust multi-year project plan for disclosure readiness; drive results towards deliverables, identify gaps and drive accountability; communicate status to all key stakeholders
Ensure that the company maintains an effective internal control environment to capture quality sustainability data; design, document, and implement controls throughout the sustainability reporting process
Manage the sustainability data collection, validation, and reporting process across the company, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and frameworks including CSRD, CSDDD, SEC, ISSB, etc.
Lead cross-functional engagement with stakeholders to identify systems and processes where sustainability data resides; identifying and implementing processes to address any data gaps; ensure accuracy and completeness of sustainability data
Enhance system capabilities to capture sustainability data to support required disclosures
Coordinate the CSRD materiality assessments across the entities in scope for reporting, working with various functions to gather data and document rationale for materiality scoring process
Engage internal stakeholders (Legal, Enterprise Risk Management, etc.) and external stakeholders (customers, suppliers, etc.) to validate material topics assessment; document findings and determine any adjustments needed in the process
Create standardized policies and procedures for sustainability data capture and reporting to support consistency of information across the organization
Ensure audit-readiness of sustainability data, including sufficient documentation of accuracy and completeness; collaborate with internal and external auditors during assurance process
Monitor emerging sustainability regulations (CSDDD, SEC, ISSB, etc.) for overlap and alignment; monitor final adoption of CSRD by country, incorporating additional reporting requirements as needed
Assist with the creation and validation of CSRD disclosures, work with F&A teams to produce reports and incorporate into statutory reporting process
Ability to learn new technology systems such as Workiva and other UPS systems, as needed.

Financial aptitude including the understanding of F&A concepts and experience working with the General Ledger (GL) and Financial Data Mart (FDM)
Ability to create insights across multiple data sets and sources of information; capable of distinguishing between "big picture" concepts and detailed facts, while ensuring tasks are completed accurately and with appropriate level of detail
Self-motivated and resourceful with a strong sense of integrity; has a curious spirit and is highly skilled at applying intuition, asking questions to better understand, and quickly connecting the dots across data, processes, and systems
Experience with internal controls, process design and implementation
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Word); advanced Excel skills and experience working with large datasets
Proven ability to develop people and effectively manage high performing team
Qualifications:
Sustainability regulatory reporting experience, specifically with EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) regulation or GRI, CDP, SEC, or CSDDD regulations experience - required
Experience running large, enterprise-wide type projects - required
Finance & Accounting experience - required
Experience with controls and familiarity with internal/external audit process - preferred
