Lead Quality Inspector Summary: The ideal candidate for the Lead Quality Inspector role will be responsible for ensuring that products meet specified quality standards before they are distributed to customers, while providing the day-to-day oversight of Quality Inspectors as given by the Quality Control Manager. This position can be fast-paced and requires candidates to possess the ability to pay attention to detail to perform mechanical and visual receiving & shipping inspection on hardware, fasteners, fabrications, and electrical products within all degrees of complexity. This position will report to the Quality Control Manager will be able to perform the following tasks:

  • Managing the daily throughput of quality team members with direction for QC Manager.
  • Provided technical knowledge support to quality team members as needed.
  • Partners with Customer Quality Engineer to valid complex discrepancies and issues as needed.
  • Provided internal support to Customer Quality Engineers during internal and external audits.
  • Manages QC equipment for 3rd party calibration and Non-Conforming Material Receipt (NCMR) Cage Management
  • Supports internal and external ISO audits to initiate discrepancy reports and hold notices
  • Partners with commercial team members to answer questions about products as needed.
  • Follows quality processes, ISO facility internal procurement clauses and internal work instructions to review & interpret customer requirements and supplier quality documentation
  • Verifies the quantity and description of materials received by checking product against the packing list.
  • Documents, tags, controls, and segregates product in accordance with established procedures.
  • Uses controlled stamp to indicate product acceptance and certificate accuracy.
  • Performs AQL sample lot inspections of drawing characteristics
  • Inspects inbound & outbound materials for conformance, and supplier documentation, manufacture/special process certifications.
  • Scans supplier packing slips, receiving documents and any necessary paperwork into MetaViewer, as needed.
  • Processes paperwork regarding UPS shipments including verifying that the merchandise to be shipped is correct, applying the correct UPS postage tape, following customer shipping instructions and insuring the shipment, as needed
  • Receives material coming into the building by vendors, customers, or other warehouses accurately and promptly, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by Quality Management.

Lead Quality Inspector Requirements: The Lead Quality Inspector should preferably possess a high school diploma or GED and have a valid driver’s license. The Quality Inspector should preferably possess previous inspection or quality control experience while performing the physical demands associated with a warehouse environment. This includes standing continuously, lifting up to 75lbs unassisted and repetitive use of hands/manual dexterity. The Quality Inspector should possess the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, organize and prioritize tasks to aid in satisfying customer requirements. In addition, the ideal W Quality Inspector should preferably possess the following:

  • At least 3-5 years of quality inspector experience, reviewing a variety of commodities to include hardware, fasteners, fabrications, machined and electrical products.
  • Associate degree/Trade School (2 yr. min.) in Quality/Material Composition, Non-Destructive testing or equivalent program
  • At least 2-years work experience in Industrial or Distribution environment or equivalent experience
  • Familiar with interpretation of engineering drawings / specifications, and manufacturing process evaluation is preferred
  • Previous ISO Quality Systems experience is preferred
  • Previous Global Company experience is preferred.
  • Quality Certification is preferred.
  • Statistics training & experience is preferred.
  • Working Knowledge of and application of UL/CE/CSA/IEC/ASTN/ANSI and other relevant Global Regulatory Codes is preferred.

The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan.
