Job Scope
The Financial Planning & Analysis Manager (FPAM) will be a key financial partner to the Director of FP&A at Acumed, and other functional leaders across the organization Partnering with cross-functional leaders, particularly within the Sales & Marketing organization, and driving constructive conversations with an open mind will be critical to success in this role. The position will supervise the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) processes, conducting analytics on all financial statements and providing FP&A support to functional business partners by way of revenue and OpEx oversight. . This role will be responsible for developing and driving process improvements within the FP&A function, understanding FP&A team needs, driving constructive and engaging conversations, and identifying trends and opportunities to drive Acumed’s growth and profitability. This individual performs financial presentations, capital expenditure analysis, industry/peer group comparisons, and other projects as requested by leadership.
Responsibilities
Manages the financial planning processes including monthly and quarterly reporting packages and forecasting cycles, annual budget planning, and strategic planning.
Leads the creation and maintenance of financial, business, and operational metrics and analyses to grow and monitor Company performance; creates standardized Key Performance Indicators (KPI) dashboard based on industry and financial best practices.
Analyzes current and past trends in KPIs including revenue, cost of sales (margin and commissions), expenses and capital expenditures; analyzes and reports on trends and causes of unexpected variances and offers appropriate recommendations (minimize, mitigate, optimize, offset).
Analyzes complex financial and operational data, with a keen focus on revenue and margin as it relates to price, volume, and mix.
Through a team of Financial Business Partners, drives report creation/dissemination and in-depth analysis into key business metrics and insights to inform decisions.
Support the continued development of the financial business acumen of the organization, while maintaining an environment of respect, teamwork, accountability and innovation.
Leads and/or supports special projects (both analytical and process-oriented): globally coordinated projects, new product investments, ad-hoc modeling to support strategic initiatives, etc.
Collaborates with functional leaders to develop and implement recommendations for ongoing planning processes including forecast updates, annual budgets, and headcount planning.
Provides leadership guidance and mentoring to direct report(s). Develops and implements solutions to organizational challenges by leading and coaching others through changes. Fosters a culture of accountability and ownership within the department.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA preferred.
6-8 years of strong financial analysis and planning experience including corporate FP&A responsibility in a large, matrixed organization.
Strong understanding of US GAAP and how it applies to financial planning and analysis.
Proven success supporting business leaders, acting as a strategic thought partner to drive sustainable and profitable growth.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Advanced knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferred).
ERP/CPM/Visualization Tool experience required: PowerBI and Adaptive Insights experience preferred.
A solid foundation in the practical application of financial forecasting, business planning, and analysis.
Ability to challenge current strategies or objectives and propose alternative recommendations, as necessary, based on in-depth knowledge of analytical methods and approaches.
Ability to distill complex findings and concepts into key data-points and visualizations, yet maintain comprehension of the details behind the story.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to present thoughts and ideas to internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Proven ability to successfully lead and manage cross-functional projects and teams.
Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to address issues from multiple perspectives, prioritize multiple assignments, and meet all deadlines with minimal supervision.
Medical device industry experience preferred.
