BE A FIRST SOUTH INTERN

The First South Farm Credit Summer Internship Program allows students to spend their summer working with our leading agricultural lenders. Credit Analyst interns will work alongside our Credit Analysts to advance skills in credit analysis, financial judgement, problem-solving, and communication. Interns will be able to apply business skills in a real-world environment, expand your network of professional contacts, and gain valuable experience with an industry leader. The internship will last tentatively from May 29 - August 1.



WHAT DOES A CREDIT ANALYST DO?

Credit Analysts take an in-depth look into an applicant's financial information with a focus on equity, working capital, and debt coverage. They take this information and decide the short and long-term risks of the loan request. An analyst considers the overall risk a loan could pose to the Association by utilizing those ratios to help the branch determine the best route forward on a loan application.

You may enjoy being a Credit Analyst if:
• You find analyzing financial statements, calculating ratios, and interpreting complex data sets engaging.
• You like to break down information, identify patterns, and draw logical conclusions.
• You have a meticulous approach and can spot inconsistencies or potential issues in financial data.
• You are comfortable evaluating creditworthiness and understanding the potential risks associated with lending decisions.
• You enjoy the challenge of analyzing complex situations and finding solutions.

• Industry Knowledge. Learn about the Farm Credit System and First South Farm Credit's operation, products and services, and primary job functions.
• Business Development. Develop the skills necessary to effectively promote our business by understanding how to market products and services.
• Financial Analysis. Discover how to make sound credit decisions by understanding balance sheets and income statements, learning key ratios and their importance in the decision process, and reviewing and interpreting credit reports.
• Customer Relationship Management. Understand how to service existing customers by participating in the loan application process, loan closings, and farm visits.
• Project Management. Utilize project management tools to plan, lead, and deliver projects at both the association and branch levels.
• Career Skills. Learn more about individual skills and competencies and the impact they will have on your career plan.



LOCATION

First South will hire one on-site Credit Analyst intern in our Opelika, Alabama OR Cullman, Alabama office.
