Salary: $90,000.00 USD Annually - $110,000.00 USD Annually

Description:
Industry leading logistics provider is seeking an Ocean Import Manager in their San Francisco, CA location. This person is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the ocean import process, from initial import order to final delivery to the customer's warehouse. This role requires a strong understanding of international trade regulations, logistics, and customs clearance procedures. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in managing ocean freight import operations and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Operational Management:
    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the ocean import department, ensuring smooth and efficient processes.
    • Manage a team of ocean import specialists, providing leadership, guidance, and training.
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement strategies to improve efficiency and productivity.

  • Customer Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, understanding their specific needs and requirements.
    • Provide excellent customer service, resolving issues promptly and effectively.
    • Proactively communicate with customers regarding shipment status, delays, and any other relevant information.

  • Logistics and Operations:
    • Coordinate with shipping lines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other service providers to ensure timely and accurate shipment delivery.
    • Negotiate rates with carriers and other service providers to optimize costs.
    • Monitor shipment progress and proactively address any issues or delays.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant import regulations, including customs, security, and hazardous materials regulations.

  • Documentation and Compliance:
    • Prepare and review all necessary import documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs declarations.
    • Ensure compliance with all import and export regulations, including customs, security, and hazardous materials regulations.
    • Stay updated on changes in regulations and industry best practices.

  • Financial Management:
    • Monitor and control departmental expenses, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
    • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including revenue and cost analysis.
    • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in ocean import operations.
    • Strong understanding of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and logistics processes.
    • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency in relevant software applications, such as TMS, ERP, and customs clearance systems.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
