“A Day in the Life”
As a Paralegal/Legal Assistant at McGrath, you will play a crucial role in supporting our legal team and ensuring the efficient operation of the company. You will work closely with the legal team to assist with document preparation, client communication,legal research,and various administrative tasks. This is an opportunity to be an integral part of our dynamic and collaborative Legal Department.
“What You’ll Do”
Assist and support attorneys with research and document preparation for legal proceedings, legal transactions, corporate, risk management and insurance projects.
Utilize a variety of sources such as on-line research tools, law firm publications, regulations and statutes, legal articles, and other relevant sources to research and analyze legal topics.
Draft and edit legal documents such as pleadings, contracts, memoranda, letters and other documents produced or managed by the Legal Department.
Prepare presentations for meetings, trainings and other events and projects.
Conduct fact-finding, data collection, and analysis in conjunction with discovery, internal investigations and other legal matters/activities.
Manage, organize, and archive documents with software tools and technology.
Manage outside counsel invoices.
Perform day-to-day tasks to support Legal Department, including but not limited to, planning/scheduling group meetings and handling related logistics, including preparing relevant documents; setting up department activities.
Post appropriate agendas and pre-reads to ensure meetings are efficiently managed.
Prioritize requests and ensure deadlines are met.
Respond to inquiries to the General Counsel/Legal Department.
Maintain accurate databases electronically to include address books, files and contacts.
Coordinate activities and drive efficiencies within the group.Work with counterparts in other departments, as needed, to support department and/or company events.
Perform other related projects and duties as requested.
“Must Haves”
Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience
Experience working at a public company (preferred)
Collaboration and rapport with colleagues combined with strong presence are keys to success.
Attention to detail is a top priority.
Anticipates well. Asks the right questions before problems arise.
Understanding of legal business concepts.
Skilled in upper-level administrative support functions including extremely strong follow-up skills.
Highly proficient technical skills (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, SharePoint, etc.).
Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in working with highly confidential information.
Highest degree of integrity, professionalism, diplomacy, and discretion required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities efficiently and effectively and meet tight deadlines.
Ability to anticipate and address issues and needs and take initiative.
Must demonstrate good judgment and decision-making capabilities.
Must be a resourceful and independent thinker.
Must be a proactive, self-starter with excellent prioritization skills.
Must be highly responsive with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
“Nice to Haves”
Bachelor's degree (Preferred); paralegal certificate preferred but not required; AA degree will be considered with sufficient relevant experience
Prior experience working in a fast-paced environment for a public company preferred
The position will support projects throughout the country and may require travel up to 5%.
