Salary/Position Classification


  • $45,000+ Annual, Dependent on Experience, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)

  • 40 hours per week

Purpose of Position

To provide management of all aircraft resources, coordinate maintenance requirements, aircraft scheduling for all University and Aerospace Foundation students and customers. To provide support on all aspects of flight training. Manage all aspects of TSA Security and Badging required by federal regulation. Manage and oversee facility building needs, repairs, remodels and construction.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily aircraft fleet operations.:

    • Coordinate fight training activities, the aircraft fleet status, and weather-related impacts on the flight training schedule with the Manager on Duty (MOD) and the Supervisor of Flight (SOF).

    • Coordinate aircraft flight priorities with the Chief Flight Instructors and/or Director of Flight Operations.

    • Coordinate aircraft ground movements with the Aircraft Line Operations department.

    • Coordinate with the Aircraft Maintenance department for all planned and unplanned aircraft maintenance and make the appropriate adjustments to the flight training aircraft schedule.

    • Provide immediate and adequate support to the department in times of critical needs.

    • Serve as a backup dispatcher as needed. - (40%)



  • Supervise and coordinate the Aircraft Dispatch department:

    • Supervise all full-time and part-time staff.

    • Create employee schedules ensuring all work stations are covered daily.

    • Assist with the recruitment, interview, and hiring of full and part time staff.

    • Assist with training in new employees.

    • Update and publish training materials, procedures, and documents pertinent to Dispatch Department.

    • Ensure all work stations are covered and assist when needed.

    • Ensure opening and closing procedures are fulfilled.

    • Coordinate with the publications department to ensure all forms are up to date with current Policies and Procedures and the UND Flight Operations Handbook.

    • Order and maintain inventory of all necessary forms and supplies necessary for daily operations.

    • Coordinate all aspects of student flight lab registration. Manage all aspects of flight lab needs as required for student registration

    • Coordinate the aircraft fleet distribution by flight lab utilization. Manage all aspects of permanent launch setup, monitoring, and removal.

    • Records and reporting:

      • Process aircraft fleet dispatch data requests

      • Maintain employee records (hiring, training, termination).

      • Review and approve records and invoice corrections.

      • Assist with end of the month reconciliation and procedures

      • Coordinate record retention, filing, and/or destruction. - (40%)





  • Facility management assistant - Flight Operations:

    • Manage the maintenance of the 14 building at UND Flight Operations.

    • Point of contact for contractors and the UND facilities department for construction or capital improvement projects.

    • Coordinate with Facilities Director for department needs as it relates to Flight Operations facilities.

    • Submit, manage, and follow up on work orders submitted for facility issues.

    • Coordinate custodial service for areas needing attention.

    • Review and adjust space utilization to ensure accuracy of building assessment.

    • Coordinate with facilities and the GFK airport authority on any projects requiring TSA security clearances.

    • Coordinate computer equipment repair and replacement in all departments at Flight Operations

    • Coordinate phone services in all departments at Flight Operations.

    • Assist with managing of surveillance systems in accordance with establish UND policies. - (10%)



  • Management %assistance - other department functions:

    • Coordinate student, employee, and industry events hosted at UND Flight Operations.

    • Coordinate UND air transportation flights.

    • Coordinate shuttle services with UND Transportation and the Supervisor of Flight (SOF)

    • Process and report major and minor inventory audits.

    • Other duties as assigned. - (10%)

Minimum Requirements

  • Associates degree in related field.

  • Previous supervisory and managerial experience with Aircraft Dispatch operations.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

  • Experience with UND Aerospace Aviation Information Management System (AIMS) software.
