The Logistics Specialist III will be accountable for creating and maintaining the carrier relationships with consistent and professional communications. This position will work onsite at our Uber Freight Newport, Kentucky Center of Excellence and interviews will be conducted at this location. This position follows a hybrid schedule once fully trained (2 days from home & 3 days in office).
What the Candidate Will Do
Effective and timely freight coverage and carrier selection through systemic routing guide and spot shipments including rate negotiation
Use Uber Freight proprietary software to route freight based on customer demand with the use of Lean processes and customer business rules
Establish and maintain effective relationships with carriers
Use Uber Freight proprietary TMS system to manage carriers, rates, and tender freight
Negotiate and contract rate agreements with carriers, reconcile established rate levels with available purchased transportation providers, seek out new carriers to provide service at competitive rate levels
Identify patterns with shipper, receiver, and carrier performance and recommend actions for improvement
Support LTL, TL, and Intermodal RFQ process for existing and prospective customers
Benchmark and negotiate lane rates to ensure cost is aligned or better than market
Study and understand market trends, seasonality, and how these things impact rates and carrier capacity
Support customer's strategic roadmap plan through project management techniques
Proactively solve problems by identifying gaps between current and desired future states as well as drive action to close gaps
Use data to understand product performance and to identify improvement opportunities
Use KPI's to measure performance to standard work and customer supply chain to support internal and external customer meetings
Basic Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent
2-3 years of experience in Transportation/Logistics/Supply Chain, preferably carrier-facing
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Logistics /Supply Chain Management or Business
3+ years of experience in Transportation/Logistics/Supply Chain
Knowledge of transportation management system applications, routing and dispatch software
Familiarity with Lean methodologies and tools (PDCA, A3 planning/problem solving, root cause analysis, process mapping, poka-yokes, visual management, etc.)
Software: Microsoft Access and Excel skills for statistical analysis
