Responsibilities:


  • Become an expert on our informatics product suite, and understand how technical solutions are managed and secured;

  • Work alongside Sales Specialists, Customer Success Managers (CSMs), Field Application Scientists (FAS) and API consultants to contribute technical product knowledge and skillfully manage objection-handling during customer meetings;

  • Help customers deploy and use the BaseSpace products to address informatics challenges;collect requirements to understand the customer's business goals and partner to design a solution that positions the customer (and internal teams) for long-term success;

  • Work closely with the broader Commercial, Product/R&D, and Customer Experience teams to ensure smooth prospect-to-customer transitions and post-sales success;

  • Help the Sales team accelerate the sales cycle by making customer POCs a positive and useful experience, and help customers understand the Illumina ecosystem;

  • Provide customer feedback to Product Management in order to iteratively build a better product fitting the needs of our customers;

  • Research, analyze, design and help deliver enterprise architecture solutions

  • Help lead efforts to provide integrated systems analysis and recommend appropriate software solutions needed to support business goals and overall strategy


Requirements:

  • Experience supporting SaaS solutions;

  • Experience in a startup and/or in a professional services organization highly preferred;

  • Experience in HCLS (Health Care and Life Sciences) preferred, but not necessary;

  • Outstanding communication skills and capabilities to build long-term business relationships; experience working in teams;

  • Understanding of cloud architecture (application, data, and hosting) - while no coding is necessary, you will need to be deeply technical and be open to learning about Illumina's tools and applications;

  • A passion and high level of comfort interacting with customers with excellent presentation skills to groups internally and externally;

  • A strong desire to learn and grow in a rapidly-expanding arm of an established company;

  • Ability to work closely with end users in a consultative, services and/or support capability;

  • Understanding of commercial software development processes (Agile), software lifecycle management and release management;

  • Knowledgeable of enterprise software standards and cloud-based enterprise application industry trends;

  • Travel as needed

Education/Experience:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.

The estimated base salary range for the Field Applications Scientist 2 role based in the United States of America is: $80,900 - $121,300. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
