Front Porch Gallery Program Manager

Front Porch Gallery (FPG) is an arts nonprofit program and gallery space committed to increasing access to creative opportunities for older people and people with disabilities, providing an inclusive environment for creative expression and intergenerational dialogue. FPG offers a dynamic combination of gallery exhibitions, workshops, and creative community initiatives. FPG is a community service of Front Porch. Front Porch is a nonprofit provider of housing and services. We create community. It’s at the heart of all we do. FPG shares a physical site with Carlsbad by the Sea, a Front Porch senior living community. The FPG Manager reports to the FPG Director.

Position Summary

Front Porch Gallery Program Manager is responsible for creating and implementing robust creative programming to engage older people, along with people of all ages in the greater community. Specifics about this position are listed below.

  • Hybrid work model: at-home and on-site
  • Tuesday-Saturday work schedule with availability to work occasional evening or Sunday events
  • Ability to travel occasional through the San Diego area
  • Fluent bilingual Spanish candidates (written and verbal) desirable

Responsibilities

  • Implement on-site and virtual arts education programming and creative events
  • Co-create arts-based curriculum with teaching artists and other staff as needed
  • Oversee teaching artists and volunteers related to programming
  • Assist director with recruiting and training teaching artists
  • Build community by participating in classes and maintaining communication with participants and instructors
  • Increase program participation through creative approaches, including managing social media content, online calendar, and media contacts
  • Maintain knowledge of trends that impact older people, people with disabilities, and intergenerational programming
  • Facilitate and/or moderate programs as needed
  • Assist with co-curation of exhibits, including identifying exhibiting artists
  • Assist with successful installation and de-installation of exhibitions
  • Perform daily administrative duties related to work
  • Keep accurate and timely documentation of program participation
  • Attend regularly scheduled staff and supervision meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Qualifications

  • 4+ years professional or educational experience, ideally in creative arts education
