SUMMARY:


The Senior Manager, Data Engineering is responsible for managing the data engineering IT professionals who design, develop, maintain, and support data pipelines, data warehousing architects, data marts, data migration, data quality and ETL technologies and systems.








ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Architect and develop data pipelines to ingest and transform data into Azure Data Factory and Synapse.



  • Employs project and time management techniques for the prioritization of medium and short-term goals thereby ensuring on time completion.



  • Manages within established systems while seeking opportunities for improvement.



  • Leads cross functional team meetings to review and evaluate updates in preparation for Sr. Management approval.



  • Responsible for managing, mentoring, and growing the skills of the data engineering team members who design, develop, maintain, and support data warehousing and data mart technologies and systems.



  • Leads the activities of data warehouse project teams in the design, development, and implementation of the data warehouse and ETL systems; and the configuration and auditing of the data warehouse to ensure quality control of data.



  • Analyzes raw data, develops and maintains datasets to be used for BI delivery and visualization.



  • Responsible for overseeing the development, operations, and maintenance of data warehouse environment, including organizational balance and system coherency between front-end desktop/client environment and data warehouse back-end processing functions.



  • Provides guidance regarding the use of data warehouse systems, capability of systems to deliver information, and subject matter expertise regarding current systems and emerging technologies/methodologies.



  • Assists the Sr Director of BI & Analytics in reviewing and selecting tools to add/replace into the data warehouse ecosystem.



  • Ensures data engineering activities and deliverables for area(s) of responsibility are completed in line with business requirements and Firm objectives.



  • Serves as the primary lead to migrate data from legacy systems to new systems, especially ERP.



  • Evaluates and makes recommendations related to inter-and intra-departmental processes to identify and implement efficiencies and quality improvement measures.



  • Supports collaboration, communication, coordination, and prioritization within the department and with systems integrators



  • Participates and contributes on IT activities, projects, and tasks, in close collaboration with other BI teams.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:


A minimum of seven years of data engineering experience and bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent amount of combined educational and work experience is required. Experience in data engineering, data systems, and EDW technologies required. The following experience is preferred:



  • Experience in staffing or professional services industry a plus



  • Experience with Microsoft Azure technologies, including SQL Server, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Data Bricks, Synapse, Azure Analysis Services (AAS) and Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS).



  • Experience leading a team of Data Engineers in successful design, development, implementation, and support of data systems and ETL processes.



  • Knowledge of the various operating systems and databases such as Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle.



  • Knowledge of programming languages such as SQL, R and Python.



  • In-depth knowledge and experience with Kimball methodologies.



  • Knowledge of data modeling tools such as Toad and Erwin.



  • Knowledge of client visualization tools such as PowerBI and Power Query a plus.

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
