TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is searching for two (2) ITS Maintenance Technician II; to join our team in Tampa, FL.
Summary: The Maintenance Technician II will perform maintenance services on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and Traffic Signal Systems throughout various FDOT, County, and City Contracts. Duties will include installation, preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment including but not limited to traffic controllers, CCTV cameras, RF antennas, switches, fiber optic patch panels, cabling, various terminal blocks, roadway signage and lighting. This is a hands-on role, and the qualified candidate must be capable of determining the most effective means to perform appropriate maintenance to maximize efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Installation, preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment to include network communications equipment, video surveillance equipment, network communications equipment, radio equipment, Close Circuit Television (CCTV) and Microwave Vehicle Detection System (MVDS) units, and Dynamic Message Signs (DMS).
Responds to corrective maintenance requests or alarms within an acceptable time limit.
Diagnoses and repairs hardware, software, and system issues.
Restores equipment to operational status as quickly as possible.
Reports technical status of system with accuracy and completeness.
Completes reports, logs, and performs shift-to-shift communications in accordance with established policies, procedures, and local practices.
Responsible for the correct, safe, and efficient location of underground utilities, including fiber optic cable, telecommunications, and electric power.
Maintenance of spare equipment and parts including inventory management.
Field test of units or components.
Electronic filing of work orders.
Required Skills & Experience:
Typically requires a minimum of 2-4 years of related experience.
Computer (Microsoft Office) and networking experience.
Ability to safely work in aerial lifts including bucket trucks of various heights (40ft up to 80ft).
Must be willing and able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record; driving is required for the position.
Be able to complete and pass a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) background check.
Must successfully complete required background / drug screening that TransCore initiates as part of the hiring process; additionally, when required by project, must successfully complete a State Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS) background screen.
Working knowledge of the practices, tools, equipment, and materials utilized within the trade.
Communicate effectively to perform work assignments.
Electrical wiring experience.
Mechanical aptitude.
Desired Skills:
FDOT approved MOT certification.
Education:
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
One-year Certificate from college or technical school or equivalent military training or Minimum of 2 years of related experience preferred.
