TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is searching for an ITS Technician I (Installation) to join our team in Tampa, FL.
Summary: The Installation Technician I, is responsible for installing new Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices on various Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), county, and city contracts and customer equipment. This job may include tracking equipment and swapping devices due to age, damage, or failure. This position includes does include some troubleshooting and repair of electronic equipment, systems, and wiring; installation of equipment; upgrades, modifications, programming; and documentation. This is a hands-on role, and the qualified candidate must be capable of determining the most effective means to performing task and to maximize efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Installation, preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment to include PC based computers, video surveillance equipment, network communications equipment, radio equipment, Close Circuit Television (CCTV) and Microwave Vehicle Detection System (MVDS) units, and Dynamic Message Signs (DMS).
Completes reports, logs and performs shift-to-shift communications in accordance with established policies, procedures and local practices.
Responds to corrective maintenance requests or alarms within an acceptable time frame.
Diagnoses and repairs hardware, software, and system issues
Reports the technical status of the system with accuracy and completeness.
Restores equipment to operational status as quickly as possible.
Isolation of faults in units or components
Field test of units or components; tests devices to ensure they work correctly.
Maintenance of spare equipment and parts following established procedures.
Must be willing and able to work at heights from 40 to 80 feet or more from an aerial lift, bucket trucks or crane baskets
Required Skills & Experience:
Basic computer and networking experience
FDOT approved MOT certification
Desired Skills & Experience:
CDL Class B license.
Ability to operate mini excavators, tracked loaders, and other construction equipment.
International Motorsports Association (IMSA) Traffic Signal I Certification.
Knowledge of how to request and preform Utility Locates
Education:
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
One-year Certificate from college or technical school or equivalent military training and experience desired.
Job Complexity: Works on assignments that are semi-routine in nature but recognizes the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
