The Blauvelt Research Group at Nemours Children's Hospital is a multidisciplinary team that combines clinical medicine and bioengineering to develop technologies to improve the outcomes for pediatric patients on extracorporeal life support (ECLS). We are developing next generation microfluidic oxygenators based on breakthrough semiconductor silicon membrane technology. In addition, we seek to understand the mechanisms of lung recovery while on ECLS. For more information about our work, visit our website: www.blauveltlab.com
The Research Intern's primary function is to provide laboratory technical assistance to support the goals and objectives of the lab. The ideal candidate will have an interest and background in bioengineering, chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field. His or her principal responsibilities will be to carry out design, assembly, and testing of microfluidic oxygenators. He or she will also be expected to contribute to the design of experiments, development of protocols, and manuscript/grant writing.
