Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Generalist will be responsible for supporting all functional areas of HR by completing a variety of tasks to support the daily operations of the HR department and providing exceptional employment experiences for staff. These functional areas, goals, and activities include, but are not limited to: recruitment; onboarding & offboarding; benefits, compensation, and recognition (total rewards); performance management; diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) initiatives; training, learning, and professional development; employee relations and staff engagement; electronic personnel file record keeping and HRIS input, maintenance, and reporting; legal compliance; and associated HR practices, policies, and procedures.
Essential job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Recruitment: Assist with talent acquisition by representing Internet2 and Human Resources in the candidate market; help to source diverse candidates; screen resumes and interview candidates as needed; coordinate interviewing process; develop employment offers; complete pre-employment processes; maintain status reports and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs); assist with creating Job Descriptions and postings. Coordinate with internal social media team.
On-boarding and Off-boarding: Ensure most up-to-date materials are available for New Hire and Benefits orientation. Coordinate with Hiring Managers and conduct orientation processes and procedures. Establish and maintain communication plan between HR, TSG, supervisors, and new or existing employees. Ensure process is followed, proper documentation is received and processed, and on file by establishing, updating, and maintaining electronic records.
HRIS (ADP): Serve as an expert of the ADP HRIS/Payroll system; ensure data is accurate and complete; create required reports; deploy a "continuous improvement" mindset by determining ways HR activities can be automated or enhanced by use of ADP so that system is fully utilized (or other technologies as applicable). Maintain electronic employee records.
Benefits Administration: Assist with administering Internet2 Benefits Programs including Health & Welfare programs and Retirement 403(b) Plans. Ensure enrollment and disenrollments are processed accurately and timely. Answer questions, resolve concerns. Audit invoices and remedy discrepancies. Collaborate with Benefit Broker and HR Team to plan and execute each year's benefit renewals which include annual renewal activities and annual Benefits Open Enrollment. Maintain benefits metrics as designated. Document and maintain key practices, contacts, and processes for the benefits functional area. Assist with completing all compliance requirements per deadlines.
Policies, Procedures, Protocols, and Practices: Help to ensure Internet2 maintains applicable and updated policies.
Legal Compliance: Help to ensure Internet2 complies with all relevant labor and employment laws and regulations and audit for appropriate compliance.
Learning and Development: Assist with maintaining and monitoring contracted Learning Management Systems and training programs (LinkedIn Learning, Traliant Compliance Training, Cybersecurity, etc.); create usage reports and compile results. Identify training needs, research and compile list of training courses that would benefit employees and leaders and recommend core curriculum to fulfill the needs of the organization. Assist with creating and implementing a training calendar, both for compliance and ongoing staff development. Communicate training plan, initiate applicable training, and update key practices and processes. Support and encourage professional development for employees.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) Initiatives: Support Internet2's DEIB related strategic plan and initiatives. Execute activities that include, but are not limited to, assisting with DEIB Advisory Group, coordinate DEIB Training, and update related policies. Create applicable reports for tracking and metrics and internal audit purposes.
Affirmative Action Plan (AAP): Assist with maintaining Internet2 AAP. Support contract, annually collaborate with consultant for completion schedule and actions, coordinate all actions for completion of the AAP annually with members of HR and Legal. Register Plan with the Federal Government. Support HR Team to execute Plan. Follow up on completion of actions in collaboration with Legal and Accounting.
Performance Management: Assist with implementation and maintenance of Performance Management System and initiate annual performance review and appraisal process. Support supervisors with goal setting, career development planning, and performance improvement plans.
Employee Relations: Respond to HR department emails. Address questions timely. Collaborate with HR leadership regarding employee concerns, conflicts, complaints, and disputes, to foster a positive work environment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, organizational development, industrial relations, or similarly related field.
3+ years of Human Resources Generalist experience (recruitment, onboarding, HRIS, benefits, etc.)
Exceptional HRIS and Microsoft Office 365 computer skills (mainly Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
Excellent verbal listening and written communication skills.
Effective communications, organizational, interpersonal, engagement, collaboration, and teamwork skills - exhibited by proven track record of getting positive results.
Strong work ethic - defined as commitment, initiative, dedication, and eagerness.
Demonstrate the importance of timeliness, responsiveness, and meeting deadlines.

Preferred Skills:
HR-related master's degree and/or professional HR Certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) is highly desirable.
Familiarity with DocuSign, Box, Salesforce, and/or Concur cloud-based systems.
Leadership and coaching skills.
Project Management skills and/or certification.
Understanding of the higher education community, not for profit, member-driven or federal agency environment.

Salary Range / Pay Grade: $58,000 - $87,000 / Grade B-4 Starting pay is typically from the minimum up to the midpoint of the grade range and varies based on experience.
