Position Summary:
The Department of Mathematics and Actuarial Science in the College of Arts and Sciences at North Central College is recruiting for a full-time faculty position Assistant Professor of Mathematics, (Specialization: Statistics) at the Assistant/Associate/Full level.
The duties in this role include:
Provide instruction for a variety of mathematics and statistics courses, including introductory calculus, MATH 360 Mathematical Statistics, and MATH 450 Data Analytics.
Carry a teaching load of 20 credits per year. Assess students' work and provide detailed feedback on how to improve their content knowledge, critical thinking skills, oral and written communication skills, etc.
Develop curricula for courses, minors, graduate certificates, and potential majors in statistics, data science, and data analytics by coordinating with other academic departments to develop a curriculum that meets the needs of students in a wide range of academic areas.
Mentor undergraduate students through one-on-one and group interactions and independent study opportunities.
Engage students in research as applicable.
Attend conferences and workshops as necessary to remain active in the field(s) of study; engage with the Center for the Advancement of Faculty Excellence to further develop teaching and mentoring skills; complete campus-wide training required by the Offices of Academic Affairs and Human Resources.
Pursue current and new research activities in the field(s) of study. This will include new research projects, writing/dissemination of current and future research, and presentation of research at conferences.
Current research interests include statistics, data science and data analytics.
Perform other departmental duties and attend activities as necessary, including attending department meetings, and participating in committees, task forces, and others as required.
This recruitment is conducted at the Assistant/Associate/Full level, and the resulting hire will be at the Assistant/Associate/Full level regardless of the proposed appointee's qualifications.

Basic qualifications are required at the time of application:
Requires Ph.D. in Statistics or a closely related field such as Actuarial Science, Data Science, or Applied Mathematics.
Requires two (2) years of experience teaching mathematics and statistics at the undergraduate level.
Training in statistics, with a preference for experience with machine learning, computational statistics, advanced statistical modeling, data science, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred experiences: Experience with evidence-based research in statistics.
Candidates with a research focus on machine learning, computational statistics, advanced statistical modeling, and/or data science are preferred.

The salary range for this position: $75,000 - $85,000.
