What You Will Do: As a Senior Municipal/Transportation Project Manager, your primary role would be overseeing and managing various engineering projects within a municipal and transportation setting. You will be responsible for:
· All aspects of complex municipal transportation projects and clients from the proposal process to project closeout, including formulating, tracking and meeting project budgets.
· Planning, directing, and coordination of activities including client meetings, public hearings, and public involvement events so that projects move forward within the prescribed time frames and budgets.
· Anticipating client needs, biases, and preferences and tailoring communication and work output accordingly; maintaining open and effective communication with clients as well as internal and external stakeholders; preparing or coordinating preparation of project / client correspondence and documentation.
· Leading multiple work teams engineers, technicians, and support staff in multiple locations; assigning/delegating tasks, providing guidance, and monitoring project progress; directing, managing and teaching staff technical and business development aspects of the engineering industry.
· Working collaboratively with other project managers to enhance plan production.
· Working directly with municipal client staff to deliver CIP programs and or projects, potentially on-site in a staff augmentation setting.
· Client Relations: Establishing and maintaining relationships with municipal clients, understanding their needs, and ensuring project requirements are met.
· Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring projects comply with relevant municipal codes, regulations, and environmental standards
· Budgeting and Resource Management: Developing project budgets, allocating resources effectively, and monitoring expenditures to ensure cost control.
· Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identifying potential risks and challenges, developing risk mitigation strategies, and resolving issues that may arise during project execution.
· Contract Management: Overseeing contract negotiations, reviewing contractor performance, and ensuring compliance with contractual agreements
· You will participate in and lead business development activities to new and existing clients through the following activities: plans, leads and participates in client meetings and networking events.
· Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvements, implementing best practices, and promoting innovation within the municipal engineering department
· Understanding of alternative funding sources for municipal projects, and ability to secure funding.
What You Will Bring: The successful candidate must have:
· A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited school,
· Registration as a professional engineer (or the ability to obtain registration within six months) and
· 5+ years municipal or transportation experience; direct experience working for a municipality is a plus
· Our preferred candidate would have experience in managing CIP programs and projects, clients, and staff in this market
· A history in delivering projects with positive customer service experiences,
· A positive attitude, as well as a willingness to learn.
· The ability and desire to develop an understanding of, or even anticipate the client’s needs, is a plus.
· A valid driver’s license and good driving record.
