Department Summary


As a leader in research and education, the College of Engineering has established clusters of research excellence, including additive manufacturing, cybersecurity, and bioengineering. Position Overview


The Director of College of Engineering Research Services Office is responsible for all aspects of the Post Award financial sponsored project processes including award review; grant setup review; the monitoring of expenditures to ensure compliance with sponsor and institutional policies; reconciliations; project progress monitoring; closeout and fiscal compliance for grants and contracts from federal, state agencies, and other nonprofit organizations.


This position oversees the sound fiscal management to federal and State agencies and other nonprofits, coordinating with the UNT Office of Grants and Contracts, and other areas of the university to ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of grant and contract agreements as well as the organization's accounting policies and procedures, including monitoring subrecipient awards, time and effort reports, and cost share. The Director CENG College Research Services will also work closely with other areas of the university to ensure that costs charged to grants.



Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in related field and six years of closely related professional experience or equivalent combination.

Job Duties:



  • Oversee the post award fiscal administration of all grants and contracts awarded to the College of Engineering. Establishes quality assurance measures and appropriate controls associated with the financial administration of grant and contract awards.

  • Hires, trains, develops, and manages the performance of the college research services office staff to maintain institutional, industry, and professional standards.

  • Ensures continuous quality improvement to improve processes and increase stakeholder satisfaction. Acts as primary liaison with college faculty on grant compliance requirements by initiating regular communication, and provision of related guidance and information with monthly budget statements and projections.

  • Oversees and monitors fiscal compliance with sponsor regulations, university policies and procedures. Functions as the subject matter expert on certain sponsored research and financial policies.

  • Develops a variety of ad hoc internal reports needed by the deans, chairs, and PIs by gathering complex data from various sources to support strategic planning and decision making.

  • In conjunction with the office of grants and contracts, provides source materials for audit work papers for internal, external, and agency auditors by researching and analyzing financial activity of externally sponsored grants and contracts.

  • Acts as a resource and assist with proposals, including proposal budget and preparation for OGCA review as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean.
