Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Admissions Counselor is responsible for the coordination and implementation of transfer student recruitment, enrollment plans, and strategies designed to increase undergraduate transfer enrollment and student success. The Admissions Counselor role requires an experienced professional who is capable of working with a high level of autonomy to successfully expand Boise State's recruitment efforts. Some evening and weekend work may be required. Up to 10% travel required.
Department Overview:
The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest academic unit at Boise State University. We offer degree and certificate programs from over 20 departments, the School of the Arts, the School of the Environment, and the School for the Digital Future.
Level Scope:
Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.
Essential Functions:
60 % of Recruitment & Admission, Counselor will:
• Provide initial academic advising to prospective transfer students, individually or in groups, about university policies, programs of study and degree options.
• Utilize academic background, current enrollment, and courses planned in order to effectively guide students through the transfer student process.
• Work closely with the Advising and Academic Support Center in order to connect students with academic support.
• Provide accurate information regarding admission and transfer credit policies, academic programs and degrees, career and special services, financial aid and scholarships, university housing, and other opportunities available at Boise State.
• Travel to represent Boise State at community colleges, college and career fairs, high schools as well as community and educational agencies.
• Use transfer student enrollment information to make data informed decisions in order to develop and implement recruitment initiatives aimed at meeting undergraduate transfer enrollment goals.
• Stay informed of transfer student research and best practices to enhance recruitment initiatives targeting transfer students.
• Collaborate with the Admissions communications team to create and maintain a strategic transfer student communication plan.
• Plan and initiate various avenues of communicating with transfer students and families utilizing elements such as: the admissions website, student portals, landing pages, telecounseling, direct mail, texts, and e-mail. Maintain positive contact with prospective students from the point of inquiry through enrollment.
• Create, coordinate, and implement events designed to recruit undergraduate transfer students to Boise State.
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with Boise State colleagues and key external partners including: Boise State Enrollment Service Offices, Boise State Advising and Academic Support Center, community college transfer center coordinators and academic advisors, community college administrative staff, and professional educators.
30% of Time, the position will:
• Evaluate course enrollment trends and collaborate with campus data stakeholders to inform college enrollment management strategies
• Implement CRM (Salesforce) for messaging, tracking communications, managing events, and sending updates for current students
• Coordinate with the COAS Student Success team to implement and advance student success initiatives
• Provide support for campus-wide strategic recruitment efforts, including Bronco Day, Discover, Campus Visits, New Student Orientation, etc.
• Work with academic units to identify signature areas of distinction that highlight COAS offerings and share these with the Admissions and Student Communication and Marketing teams
• Participate on COAS committees as needed, including Commencement and Scholarship focused areas
5% of time, the position will:

Minimum
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in student affairs, recruitment, advising, counseling, or retention preferred. Salary and Benefit
