Research Operations Senior Analyst will provide a broad range of services and support pertaining to the administration of financial and strategic initiatives within the College of Medicine Finance, Office of Research (CoM OR), Grants Management Office (GMO), and CoM basic science administrative areas reporting to the Associate Director, Research & Operations in the College of Medicine Finance; communicates and implements the College and unit short and long range vision, goals, and objectives, serving as primary resource and subject matter expert on fund management and use, resources, and requirements for assigned leaders, department administrators, and department support staff; develops, establishes, and maintains financial and operational processing environment to ensure adherence to internal control structures and compliance to operational policies, procedures and regulations; provides guidance to departments related to policy compliance and developing internal controls within the respective units; participates in training and onboarding new support staff within departments; evaluates and maintains departmental and center resource operations and makes recommendations for quality improvement that are communicated down to business units; oversees, controls, and administers research, earnings, operational, development, and endowment funds; coordinates and organizes all service line resource activities, including but not limited to tracking and managing service line statements of work and other contractual agreements for services rendered; assists in overseeing the development, preparation and review of annual budget reports, forecasts, and personnel management for basic science departments and centers within the hierarchy; develops budgets for CoM OR and GMO; monitors and approves expenditures for appropriateness; reviews, reconciles and monitors financial activities in the College units; participates in developing comprehensive resource reports for departments, working directly with the Data Analytics and GMO teams; identifies and resolves discrepancies, working with appropriate offices to improve processes and procedures; prepares routine reports to supervisor detailing operational and financial aspects, which may include recommending new strategies and initiatives to improve efficiency; reviews and/or authorizes procurement and travel requests as needed; participates in the analysis and execution of fund management and use activities; ensures compliance to internal auditing standards; works closely with the GMO and Data Analytics teams to identify process improvement between Research Resource & Operations and Grants Management practices and procedures; oversees the asset management process; assists in creation of financial models and guides departments in the process and procedures for scheduling and completing transfers within their respective areas based on the schedule developed in the model; oversees various programs within CoM, working with multiple Colleges and programs within the University to communicate participation opportunities; performs other administrative duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field, and a minimum 4 years of relevant experience. Strong analytical, computer, organizational, communication, and customer service skills, and the ability to manage time efficiently to complete multiple tasks with competing deadlines. Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office preferred. Self-directed individual, ability to work independently in a cross-functional environment. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
