Job Description Summary


Principle responsibilities include: overseeing hearing-related planning, documentation and follow up appeals, collaborating with case managers to prepare for hearings and be present during hearings, training campus partners and panelists around hearing matters and process, managing and investigating cases for alleged violations of the university policies, acting as a direct liaison for assigned schools/departments within the Penn community, and developing/implementing targeted educational outreach efforts that relate to their assigned areas. Duties related to case management include, but are not limited to, managing case-related scheduling and other communications with students and relevant staff and faculty, investigating allegations as appropriate, maintaining appropriate records and overseeing the process of resolving the case to completion. Duties related to acting as a liaison include, but are not limited to, developing strong relationships with identified schools/programs to facilitate case referrals and case-related communications. Duties related to educational outreach include, but are not limited to, working with assigned schools/departments to identify, develop and implement targeted educational outreach efforts that meet the specific and broad needs of these assigned areas. Participate in staff-wide case meetings and policy/protocol development efforts.

Job Responsibilities



  • Oversee hearing-related planning, documentation and follow up appeals; Collaborate with case managers to prepare for hearings and be present during hearings; Train panelists and campus partners.

  • Interview accused students, complainants and witnesses to resolve allegations of academic and other misconduct by graduate and undergraduate students.

  • Draft all documents essential to resolution of cases including notice letters, resolution agreements and charge letters.

  • Act as liaison to assigned programs/schools by developing relationships with key partners, acting as consultant regarding potential cases, and facilitating case referrals.

  • Working with assigned programs/schools, identify, develop and implement targeted and broad educational outreach efforts; present programs as required.

  • Assist in development and on-going review of protocols, policies and practices.






Qualifications



  • JD and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

  • Experience in student services or human resources preferred

  • Extensive experience in interviewing, investigating cases/situations, and/or mediating conflict.

  • Demonstrated strong people skills, organizational skills and ability to work on a team.

  • Previous experience working in higher education strongly preferred.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
