About the Role


The Director of Audience Insights & Segmentation is responsible for analyzing key data inputs across Gap Inc.'s portfolio of brands to generate insights that can be infused into marketing strategies, planning tactics and business decisions. Sitting within the Marketing Intelligence organization and reporting to the Sr. Director of Audience Intelligence, you will spearhead the creation of data-driven insights to strengthen the Gap Inc. brands' approach to audience strategy and segmentation across campaigns. You and your team will empower holistic modern media strategies and decisioning through a deep understanding of audience(s). This role is part of a new approach for Gap Inc., and you will be tasked with developing insights in collaboration with embedded resources across Gap's portfolio of brands. In this role, you will ensure marketing campaigns and media strategies are infused with data-driven insights and audience signals. You will be responsible for deriving holistic audience strategies by leveraging a multitude of first- and third-party data sources and platforms. You will serve as a key interface between the broader Audience team and Brand teams and possess a strong understanding of content trends, platforms, and audience segments.


This hybrid opportunity can sit in either one of our hub locations: San Francisco or NYC.


What You'll Do



  • Ingest, analyze and define key audience segments for all four Gap Inc. brands, leveraging customer insights aligned to growth targets and priorities

  • Leverage first- and third-party data sets to generate audience strategies, deploy those learnings to refine audience segments, and accelerate effectiveness across Gap Inc.'s brands

  • Partner with Brand counterparts to provide analytical expertise to enable the audience data strategy and insights that empower performance media initiatives

  • Consistently evaluate audience strategies at an enterprise level to identify opportunities for greater cross-brand synergies and holistic insights that can help Gap Inc. brands deliver more targeted and effective marketing communications

  • Collaborate closely with Audience Data Strategy team to build appropriate dashboards and tools that identify relevant audience insights

  • Utilize proprietary and syndicated tools to create and present analyses across the Gap Inc. portfolio that conveys a clear audience story that can be translated into insights / segments for marketing campaigns

  • Manage a team of brand-aligned embedded resources to ensure audience insights and trends are effectively infused into brand vision, positioning and growth strategies

  • Work in close collaboration with Gap Inc. brand marketing leaders to ensure their audience needs are being met and manage priorities

  • Craft audience insights into compelling narratives that inform and drive to key business decisions

  • Establish and tools and processes that centralize information and evangelize and drive adoption with the appropriate stakeholders across the Gap Inc. organization

  • Act as key collaborator and resource for brands during planning process with 360-degree view of portfolio-wide insights to improve go-to-market approach

  • Serve as the engine of Gap Inc.'s insight generation activities and support the Sr. Director of Audience Intelligence in effectively communicating how to integrate learnings into media and marketing activities swiftly

  • Partner with Media Agency partners to generate and infuse key takeaways into activation activities

  • Collaborate with Audience Data team to bring together holistic strategy across Gap's portfolio and enable successful campaigns


Who You Are



  • Established marketing leadership experience specializing in audience insights strategy

  • Demonstrated experience managing teams, with a proven track record of collaborative leadership, team building, and managing individual contributors

  • Strong understanding of methodology, data, and systems best leveraged for research

  • Diverse-minded, curious, creative and solution-oriented

  • Demonstrated ability to generate strategic insights from rigorous analysis

  • Experience in a highly complex, matrixed organization with a proven track record of working cross-functionally to drive change

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and drive consensus across multiple teams and functions

  • Change agent and motivator, with the ability to build bottoms-up teams and approaches, and foster positive culture change at Gap

  • Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to work through ambiguity, transform enterprise-wide ways of working, and infuse strategic thinking across levels

Salary Range: $164,200 - $217,500 USD
Employee pay will vary based on factors such as qualifications, experience, skill level, competencies and work location. We will meet minimum wage or minimum of the pay range (whichever is higher) based on city, county and state requirements.
