The Senior Research Associate 3 supports research activities under the direction of a principle investigator, program director or designee of the principle investigator or program director.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Contributes to basic and applied research activities by collecting and analyzing data.
Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures.
Maintains an overview of relevant research findings.
Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice.
Designs, evaluates, and implements methods and protocols for assigned research projects.
Recommends purchase of new equipment for research projects.
Writes scientific articles and manuscripts for publication and presentation.
Oversees and ensures the safe handling of radioactive and hazardous materials.
Prepares analytical reports relative to research data.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM
Department Specific Functions
Work with research group members and support experiments within the NeuroTherapeutics Lab (Dr. Rajguru).
Carry out data collection and analysis following standard operating procedures established in the lab.
Use good research practices and support collection, preparation, and analyses of various samples.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment following SOP, support maintenance of the lab overall.
Document all observations and document all protocols and procedures as per guidance provided.
Adhere to University and laboratory policies
Department Specific Qualifications
Education:
Master's degree minimum in Neuroscience, Biomedical Sciences or relevant STEM discipline
Experience:
Working with rodents, carrying out scientific experiments and statistics, knowledge of molecular biology techniques, maintaining animal colonies
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
Strict adherence to established protocols
Experience working in a lab setting
Design of experiments
Immunohistochemistry, confocal and fluorescence imaging, dissection and processing of tissue
Auditory and vestibular physiology, neuroanatomy, and neurophysiology is a plus
