The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center has a great opportunity for a Sr. Research Associate 1. The Senior Research Associate I position is part of the Behavioral and Community Based Research Shared Resource (BCSR). BCSR offers expertise and services to investigators engaged in cancer prevention, behavioral, epidemiologic, and cancer survivorship research. The Senior Research Associate I will provide research services on community and population-based studies and programs that aim to reduce cancer related health disparities in South Florida. The incumbent will implement day-to-day tasks related to research protocols and office support to facilitate the efficient operations of BCSR.
Collects, analyzes, and presents research data.
Monitors and maintains relevant research databases to ensure accurate data entries.
Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures.
Participates in the publication of significant results to include authorship of scientific monographs.
Advances expertise through continued education, training, and research.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant developments in the field.
Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice.
Warrants that department activities comply with applicable guidelines and regulations.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in relevant field required. Preferably a master's degree in public health.
Knowledge and understanding of research methodology, cancer epidemiology, social determinants of health, health promotion and disease prevention strategies, mental health and group therapy, concepts of cultural competency, and basic statistics preferred.
Excellent English skills, both oral and written required.
Excellent Spanish skills, both oral and written required.
Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
Ability to accommodate a changing work schedule and travel to different locations in the Tri-County area.
Ability to handle multiple studies simultaneously.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Department Specific Functions
The Senior Research Associate I position is part of the Behavioral and Community Based Research Shared Resource (BCSR). BCSR offers expertise and services to investigators engaged in cancer prevention, behavioral, epidemiologic, and cancer survivorship research. The Senior Research Associate I will provide research services on community and population-based studies and programs that aim to reduce cancer related health disparities in South Florida. The incumbent will implement day-to-day tasks related to research protocols and office support to facilitate the efficient operations of BCSR.
1. Provide technical assistance and services to Cancer Center investigators on funded research projects, e.g., recruitment and retention strategies, developing and testing recruitment materials, and questionnaires, assisting in research training activities, monitoring data collection and managing databases.
2. Help establish and maintain a network of community partners with whom Cancer Center investigators can collaborate in conducting research, and facilitate collaborative relationships between investigators and community partners.
3. Provide supervision and training on research activities to other BCSR staff, BCSR users' team members, graduate students, and volunteers.
4. Recruits, consents, and enrolls research participants. Maintains consent forms and all other study documentations and correspondences.
5. Establishes/maintains contact with patient/participants, health care providers, community agencies and study sponsors.
6. Maintain reporting needs as established by the IRB, HIPAA, HSRO, DSMC, and funding/sponsored agencies as needed including continuing reports, amendments, reportable events, and deviations.
7. Perform electronic medical chart reviews upon participation enrollment and completion using EPIC/CERNER and update VELOS with participants status. Prepares monthly enrollment reports.
8. Perform screening interviews, conduct and/or coordinate focus groups and behavioral interventions, and administer survey instruments related to specific research projects.
9. Enters data appropriately, ensures data integrity and consistency in computer database and written records.
10. Attend meetings with research team members as needed.
12. Assist managers with consultations to PI's who are interested on BCSR services and with billing processes for BCSR services.
13. Establish and facilitate Community Meetings for specific research projects.
14. Coordinate subcontracts between the University of Miami and community partners collaborating on funded research projects.
15. Present cancer and socio-demographic data and help disseminate research findings.
16. Maintain knowledge of local, state and national initiatives and events that address cancer and health disparities.
17. Able to accommodate a changing work schedule and travel to different locations in the Tri-County area.
18. Able to handle multiple studies simultaneously.
