RADIOLOGY & IMAGING SCIENCES (IN-RADY-IUINA)



Job Summary



Department-Specific Responsibilities


  • Conducts PET-CT examinations to support research activities at Indiana University School of Medicine.

  • Collaborates with team members to implement best practices that ensure efficient, top-tier support for studies and infrastructure.

  • Perform PET-CT scans on participants enrolled in Indiana University-approved research studies in an organized and timely manner; Provides appropriate patient care and guidance throughout the process.

  • Injects radioactive material.

  • Accurately and promptly develops and maintains research records, including managing electronic and digital data, and burning disks when necessary.

  • Facilitates data transfer to various computer platforms and software programs using IT management tools.

  • Ensures HIPAA regulations are followed during data transfer, and promptly report any violations or computer performance issues that may compromise HIPAA procedures to management.

  • Assists in training staff as needed, helping to develop instructional resources and best practices for project coordination.

  • Establishes and maintains clear communication and feedback channels with other staff, study sponsors, and study teams.

  • Participates in monitoring visits conducted by research sponsors and/or regulatory agencies by providing clarification, research data, and reports as needed.

  • Schedules imaging examinations as needed.

  • Assists in other areas as needed.

General Responsibilities


  • Provides training and guidance to technicians

  • Performs exams using proper equipment as ordered by providers

  • Checks to be sure all reports are filed promptly and sent to ordering providers for review

  • Makes sure charges are entered correctly by checking order list or by entering data into EMR for outside providers, so patients will be billed properly

  • Sends test results to qualified provider for analysis

  • Monitors equipment and performs regular maintenance and inspections as needed

  • Ensures equipment is repaired and is in good working order

EDUCATION



Required



  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited school associated with technician specialty

WORK EXPERIENCE



Required



  • 2 years of experience in technician specialty

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES



Required



  • Technician related specialty upon date of hire


Preferred



  • Meets the certification requirements of the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board or equivalent.

Working Conditions / Demands



The role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
