Summary: Registered Nurse that collaborates with physicians and members of the interdisciplinary teams to facilitate Autologous, Allogeneic transplants, and various Adoptive Cellular Therapies/Immune Effector Cell Therapies at the organization; serves as the primary contact between the Transplant & Cellular Therapy (TCT) program, the patients, donors, National Marrow and Donor Program (NMDP) and ancillary support services for a majority of per-transplant activities; assumes a number of different roles, including but not limited to: clinician representative, patient educator, resource person, navigator, patient advocate and organization representative; arranges for tests, exams, procedures and consults for Transplant and Cellular Therapy (TCT) recipients, related/unrelated donors and for NMDP volunteer donors referred for product collection to the organization; participates in discussions with TCT physicians in identifying best donor/recipient match by comparative evaluations of HLA typing and other considerations such as the patient's disease status and donor's age, gender, blood type, height and weight; performs and reports on the status of all unrelated NMDP searches; reviews all clinical information and provides clinical summary of patient to providers prior to clinic visits as needed; completes and maintains all spreadsheets containing patient data, i.e. HLA typing, patient lists, consult lists, etc.; communicates with referring physicians regarding the patients' status in all phases of the TCT process; notifies clinical personnel and case management department of all changes in patient schedules for pre TCT phase of care and any alternative courses of action that need to be implemented; educates patients, families and caregivers about the TCT process, evaluations, HLA typing, donor selection as appropriate; participates in multi-disciplinary conferences for management of the program including, but not limited to: patient clearance, QA, staff meetings; attends educational in-services as appropriate; participates in professional activities and related to Transplant and Cellular Therapy organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments. Occasional travel is optional for external educational conferences.
This position includes a base salary and geographic differential. The total combined salary range for this position is $107,318 - $126,614 annually which includes a comprehensive benefits package. The listed pay range reflects the range of potential compensation for this role. The actual offer may vary based on qualifications, skills, and experience.
Qualifications:Required Education and Experience
License Requirement
License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.
Education and Experience
1. Bachelor's degree and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time oncology nursing experience; or
2. Associates degree and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time oncology nursing experience.
NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred candidate will have the following:
1. Bachelor of Nursing degree
2. Experience in Blood and Marrow Transplant and/or Cellular Therapy
or Solid Organ Transplant
3. Highly organized with excellent communication skills and ability to work
effectively within teams and independently
