Job Title: Industrial Safety Specialist - Performance Improvement



Work Location: Onsite Monday-Thursday in Richland, WA



Duration: 3+ month contract



Description:



We are seeking an Industrial Safety Specialist to support our client during their Columbia Generating Station (CGS) refueling outage. The specialist will work under the technical direction of the Contract Technical Representative.



Responsibilities:



  • Conduct safety and industrial hygiene inspections and audits to ensure compliance with the client's policies, procedures, and state and federal regulations.

  • Minimize the client's liability by monitoring and enforcing compliance with safety requirements and Washington State regulations for contractors, subcontractors, and their employees.

  • Review and understand the prime and general contractor's liability as identified in the Department of Labor & Industries WISHA Regional Directive (WRD) 27.

  • Inspect facilities, equipment, and work tasks to ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures.

  • Resolve issues and provide cost interpretations related to safety and health policy compliance.

  • Perform industrial safety analysis and make decisions on areas of concern such as potential fall exposure, chemical exposure, high noise areas, and lead-based coating removal.

  • Respond to on-site medical emergencies and provide first aid as required by certification protocols.

  • Represent Industrial Safety in meetings, event investigations, and incident review boards.

  • Conduct confined space, heat stress, and indoor air quality monitoring and analysis as qualified and requested.

  • Provide industrial safety training as directed by the Contract Technical Representative.

  • Comply with the client's safety rules, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Adhere to the client's Excellence Model.


Principal Accountabilities:



  • Provide named industrial safety specialist support to the client during the CGS refueling outage.

  • Work under the technical direction of the Contract Technical Representative.

  • Conduct safety and industrial hygiene inspections and audits.

  • Monitor and enforce compliance with safety requirements and Washington State regulations.

  • Understand the prime and general contractor's liability as per WISHA Regional Directive (WRD) 27.


Education and Experience:



  • BS degree in Safety Engineering or related field with 8 years of applicable experience; or an associate's degree with 10 years of applicable experience; or 14 years of applicable experience.

  • Demonstrated aptitude and skills in Core Values, Leadership Competencies, and abilities/skills as outlined in the position description.

  • Experience managing projects from start to finish.

  • Ability to prepare complex written reports.

  • Skilled in preparing and delivering oral presentations to management and internal/external organizations.

  • Experience leading committees or task forces.

  • Proficient in facilitating group problem-solving, decision-making, or strategic planning sessions.

  • Experience in benchmarking, self-assessments, or audits.

  • Instructional experience.
