LabConnect improves lives by partnering with pharmaceutical and biotech companies, and clinical research organizations (CROs) to accelerate the development of new medicines around the world.

We are an independent, global, one-stop-shop focused on delivering Central Laboratory Services that are tailor-made, timely and flexible to meet the evolving study demands of traditional to increasingly complex trials. Additionally, we provide Functional Service Provider (FSP) Solutions, supporting our clients with scientific and technical expertise, acting as an extension of their team, coordinating all laboratory related needs, advising on strategies for lab data collection and providing end-to-end analytical and logistical solutions.

Job SummaryThe Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is a critical member of the Executive Committee and serves as a strategic business partner to the Chief Executive Officer and other members of the management team. The CTO will be responsible for the company's global technology strategy and direction and will serve as an advisor to the leadership team on technological and business issues. The CTO will be responsible for developing new technological product offerings from existing data in addition to maintaining the integrity of current ERP, LIMS, and other systems.

Essential Duties and Other Responsibilities


  • Strategic Business Partner:

    • Contribute significantly to the company's growth by lending technological perspective to the evaluation of key strategic relationships.
    • Build and develop the technology organization to include the appropriate functions to support the ongoing operations of the company, as well as the necessary support for new contract wins, new customers, geographic expansion, etc.
    • Oversight for the IT budget, ensuring all expenses related to technology and innovation are managed according to the company's growth strategy.

  • Team Leadership:

    • Lead and develop a team that is supporting the company's decisions in real-time, such as in software build/buy decisions, data analysis, and determining whether the company is reaching the goals it had previously established.
  • Technology Implementation:

    • Identify and implement new technologies, using automation solutions, improved analytics and potentially machine learning, to further automate and streamline business operations.
  • Security and Monitoring:

    • Ensure Information Security practices are appropriate to protect and sensitive data and information, including client related trial data, information systems, etc.
    • Ensure disaster recovery plans and business continuity strategies meet the needs of the organization.
  • Relationship Management

    • Managing relationships with technology vendors and partners, evaluating and selecting the most solutions and services.
    • Collaborating closely with executive leadership, business units, and stakeholders to understand their technology needs and drive technology-enabled business initiatives.
  • Technology Planning and Goal Orientation:

    • Develop and communicate the technology strategy to management, staff, partners, customers and other stakeholders.
    • Create and maintain third party relationships to facilitate technology needs.
    • Monitor business technology KPIs and budgets to assess technological and business outcomes performance.

Qualifications/Experience/Skills Required:


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, including 5+ years in a senior executive role, preferably within a technology-driven, regulated industry (life sciences, healthcare, clinical trials, etc.).
  • Proven track record of building and scaling technology teams, driving successful technology transformations, and implementing innovative solutions at scale.
  • Strong experience in software development, data management, cloud infrastructure, IT operations, and system integrations.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance (HIPAA, GDPR, etc.) and data security best practices, especially within the healthcare or life sciences sectors.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with C-suite executives and external stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with a strong business acumen and the ability to align technology initiatives with business goals.
  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills with a track record of mentoring and developing technical talent.
  • Expertise in building scalable cloud architectures and SaaS products.
  • Strong understanding of data security, privacy regulations, and cloud computing environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technology concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and evolving environment.
