The Senior Strategic Communication Advisor (& Senior Speechwriter) is responsible for conceptualizing, researching, and writing communications for the President, including but not limited to speeches, statements, fact sheets, talking points, op-eds, etc. This individual works directly with the Bank's senior leaders—including the President—as well as other departments and subject matter experts.

The level of work is considered expert and works with minimal supervision. This position resides in the Office of the President and has no direct reports.

Your Responsibilities


  • Responsible for drafting, developing, and editing a wide range of editorial products on behalf of the Bank’s President for external and internal audiences, including but not limited to: talking points, speeches/remarks, statements, opinion pieces, correspondence, discussion questions, and other stakeholder communications on the economy, monetary policy, and other topics of importance.

  • Works with research staff to communicate technical economic research in a format that is accessible to wider audiences on behalf of the President.

  • Writes and edits op-eds, articles, talking points, and commentaries for publication or incorporation into other relevant preparation material for the President.

  • Assists with multiple speaking and written editorial projects simultaneously, managing deliverables within specified deadlines.

  • Works with key senior leaders and subject matter experts to gather and incorporate intelligence & feedback into the President's messaging, communications, and/or correspondence.

  • Maintains positive relations with internal and external stakeholders, working collaboratively to enhance the impact and integrity of the Bank’s President and its senior leadership.

  • Provides input and strategic counsel on potential speaking platforms for the President and helps advance the Bank's public policy positions and key strategic objectives by effectively communicating with the engaged public in traditional and non-traditional venues.

Your Background


  • Demonstrated written skills in all or some of the following: speeches/remarks, official statements, editorials/op-eds, fact sheets, and talking points.

  • Superior writing and editing abilities, particularly on behalf of someone else, with the ability to translate ideas and capture the authentic voice of others efficiently and effectively.

  • Critical thinker, capable of synthesizing complex ideas, conceiving of crisp and logical arguments, and then communicating/messaging those ideas with broadly accessible and memorable language.

  • Effective organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with limited supervision and within specified deadlines.

  • Outstanding relationship building and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders and a diverse array of colleagues.

  • Strong knowledge of the current and evolving media landscape, with experience crafting effective communication for different platforms and audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to accurately and effectively translate complex research and/or policy ideas into language that the intelligent layperson and engaged public can understand.

  • Keen understanding of strategic messaging and framing in a modern, fast-moving media environment.

  • Strong ethical compass, maintains confidentiality of privileged and sensitive materials.

  • Highly creative and open to new ideas, including those of others.

  • Expert research skills.

Experience & Education


  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in related field

  • Minimum five years of work experience

  • High-level experience in speech writing, drafting communications, and editing executive-level messaging in the public or private sectors. economics/finance/business related

  • This position requires a general knowledge of the economy/economics, business, finance, and/or monetary policy.

Additional Requirements: 

  • This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of two days per week in office. 

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future. 

  • This position has additional screening requirements due to the information accessed while performing the job. These additional screenings would be initiated at the time of offer acceptance and can take approximately two months to be completed. The expected starting salary range for this position is between $164,100 and $194,00 annually in addition to annual performance-based discretionary bonuses. Final salary and offer are determined by the applicant’s relevant experience, skills, internal equity, and geographic and other market data.
