Assistant or Associate Professor of Counselor Education

The William & Mary School of Education invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Counselor Education campus-based program beginning in the Fall 2025 -2026 academic year. The Counselor Education program includes CACREP-Accredited master and doctoral programs in School Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and Counselor Education and Supervision. Under the umbrella of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling track, the program offers specializations in Addictions Counseling; Military & Veterans Counseling; and Relationship, Marriage, and Family Counseling. We offer part-time online and full-time face-to-face learning options for the master-level programs, while the doctoral program is face-to-face. This position focuses on faculty contribution to the Military and Veterans Counseling program area.
Responsibilities of this Position:The Assistant or Associate Professor of Counselor Education is a 9-month position with summer teaching opportunities. The position includes serving as program area lead for the Military Veteran Counseling (MVC) specialization. The successful candidate will be committed to advancing MVC counseling research, excellence in counselor training, and remaining active in professional service. The essential duties of the position include developing and maintaining a record of research and scholarship; teaching masters and doctoral level courses in counselor education; advising students, including Ph.D. students in their dissertation process; providing supervision; and providing service to the department, university, and counseling profession.
The School of Education is housed in a state-of-the-art teaching facility that includes the in-house Flanagan Counselor Education Clinic and the Thrive Research and Intervention Center. These projects allow students and faculty to engage with the local community through counseling and educational services.The School of Education faculty maintains close connections with local public schools and professional organizations and actively pursues involvement with externally funded grants.
