The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) administers nursing care, under the supervision of a registered nurse or provider, and ensures the health, comfort, and safety of patients. The incumbent provides quality care to designated patients and takes on various responsibilities, such as participating in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care, as well as cooperating with the members of the nursing and medical staff and other hospital departments.
Collects patient assessment data and notifies appropriate nurse of actual or potential problems and needs on an ongoing basis.
Records patient information concisely, accurately, and completely.
Administers medications and performs treatments and procedures for all patients as assigned.
Assists with preparation of patient materials or correspondence that RNs, ARNPs, or MDs utilize to communicate with organizations within or outside the University.
Assists in preoperative and postoperative health teaching for patients and families.
Shares responsibility for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care plans.
Participates in team conferences, sharing knowledge, information, and ideas with team members.
Performs more-complex nursing activities as competence increases.
Communicates frequently with team leader regarding patients' physical and mental conditions.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions
Assist the physician in out-patient practices. Act as chaperone for examinations and procedures.
Performing clinical tasks in outpatient setting such as taking patient vital signs: temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respirations, performing venipunctures, finger-sticks, medication administration, urodynamics testing, PVRs and records in patient chart.
Reports any unusual findings to clinic provider.
Assists in minor procedures such as colposcopies, LEEPs, cryotherapy, hysteroscopies, biopsies, TOP's, IUD insertions & removals, Nexplanon insertion & removals, Endometrial Biopsies, and vulvar biopsies., Hysteroscopies, Egg Retrievals etc. Recording patients' medical history, pharmacy information and completes pertinent screening questions in patient medical record.
Assists in pre-procedure, post procedure, and/or relevant health teaching for patients and families.
Documentation of procedures in EPIC.
Identifies and utilizes appropriate channels of communication.
Reviews, follows up and reporting of laboratory test results.
Inventory and order medical, lab and office supplies equipment.
Sign off on orders as per departmental protocols for providers for routine maintenance medications, labs, and diagnostic testing.
Clean, wrap and sterilize medical instruments.
High level disinfection and use of autoclave for sterilization of instruments.
Ensure site compliance with infection control policies, logs, and quality assurance initiatives.
Works collaboratively with both clinical MA's, LPN's, RN's, and clerical staff and providers within the practice/clinic setting to provide quality patientcare.
Follow up on UChart in-basket pool and results messages, Rx refills as assigned.
May schedule appointments for patients in accordance with practice policy.
Performs nursing duties as assigned.
Work closely with Urogynecology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, REI, and MFM department and providers.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid State of Florida LPN license
No experience required
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
