Summary
Responsible for the overall direction of production of aggregate for the Rocky Mountain region. Will lead all aspects of aggregate production and personnel, which includes managing safety, quality, fulfillment, cost, production, and other support functions to meet business objectives.
Position Responsibilities
Cultivates a positive safety culture in assigned operations by championing Guardian Angel and Wing Man principles and philosophy. Builds individual accountability and rewards/recognition into the safety approach.
Ensures daily coordination between production, delivery, distribution and quality control.
Directs production activities to ensure strict adherence to cost and quality standards and takes immediate corrective action when deficiencies are noted; achieves production targets as directed.
Provides leadership resulting in efficient production, working closely with Sales Manager and Dispatch Manager to meet customer expectations, ensure product quality, and drive maximum profitability.
Provides direction to Plant Managers and District Production Managers to ensure efficiency, quality, service, and sustainable, cost-effective management of resources.
Builds effective teams and develops key performers in the Region.
Ensures that all personnel under their supervision comply with Federal, State, and local regulations.
Ensures company safety rules and regulations are met through periodic inspections of plant machinery, equipment, personnel activities, and working conditions.
Drives operational and safety performance through continuous improvement initiatives that meet or exceed company and regional goals.
Generates goals and targets throughout the operational ranks to challenge employees, foster employee engagement, and drive continuous improvement.
Promptly delivers positive and critical feedback through one-on-one interaction.
Responsible for overseeing month-end inventory accuracy and audits inventory accounting methodologies periodically throughout each quarter.
Responsible for maintaining updated Hazcom and other environmental records and permits for assigned operations. Responsible for compliance and all administration related to environmental regulations. Coordinates environmental issues with Land and Environmental Department.
Directs the selection, training, and development of production personnel - appraises the performance of subordinates and takes/recommends appropriate personnel actions as necessary.
Recommends management development and necessary training programs for all direct reports
Purchases or directs the purchase of supplies and equipment in accordance with company policy- recommends or changes vendors to optimize maintenance costs and quality.
Implements and reviews ongoing contracts, purchase orders, appropriations and expenditures requests.
Coordinates with VP/GM needed staffing to effectively and safely operate the plants. Coordinates these same needs with the Human Resources Department with attention to labor law compliance.
Assists with profit plans, Capital Requests, market analyses, and ad-hoc reports for the approval of the VP/GM.
Maintains operational security.

Position Requirements
Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.E.) in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or other related discipline strongly preferred and/or equivalent combination of knowledge, skills and abilities
Ten (10) or more years' experience in aggregates, operations preferred
Five (5) years' multi-site management experience in an aggregate or similar industrial environment
Knowledgeable in MSHA regulations and compliance.
Excellent knowledge of aggregate operations and the associated plants and equipment
A thorough understanding of quality control processes and specifications regarding aggregates
Travel up to 40%
