JobSummary:
AFacilities/Process Engineer performs process and/or mechanical design of oiland gas production, transmission, and distribution facilities, including newinstallations as well as upgrades and retrofits to existing terminals,platforms and pipelines.
JobDuties and Responsibilities:
Include but are not limited to:
Conceptual engineering for new field or plant developments.
Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) and/or Detailed Engineering for Greenfield or Brownfield design projects for onshore and/or offshore facilities.
Design of process (production separation, sour production sweetening, oil and gas dehydration, produced water treatment, export metering) and/or utility (fuel gas, chemical injection, instrument air, diesel, heat medium, cooling, drainage, power generation) systems.
Design and Vendor interface for static (pressure vessels, tanks) and rotating (pumps, compressors, engines) equipment packages.
Piping system design.
Engineering studies.
Process Hazards Analysis and Risk Identification.
Make site visits, both onshore and offshore, to gather existing data/details and survey available space and infrastructure to support facility upgrades, modifications, or remediation.
Interface with Project Managers, Peers, and Clients, including attending project meetings.
Assist Project Managers and multidiscipline design team with establishing the methodology for completing a project. Research, learn and implement differing design techniques which may be industry specific.
Evaluate proposed designs for efficiency of construction, installation, operability, maintainability, use of materials, integrity, and practicality.
Coordinate/interface with other engineering disciplines, designers and drafters to ensure an integrated design that meets the project requirements
Develop process design basis details and documentation.
Perform process simulations and develop process flow diagrams with associated heat and material balance tables.
Perform and/or review sizing calculations for process and utility equipment, piping, in-line instruments, valves, and pipelines using available tools.
Prepare, modify and/or review data sheets and technical specifications for process equipment, instruments, manual and actuated valves, piping systems, specialty items, etc. to meet specific project requirements.
Perform and/or review process/mechanical engineering studies (i.e. de-bottlenecking, vent/relief, hydraulic analysis, pipe stress, API 14C compliance, firewater/deluge, material selection) and develop associated reports and spreadsheets.
Prepare equipment location plans in accordance with sound design practices, Client specifications, and industry/regulatory standards.
Perform design verification reviews/checks of drawings and other documents prepared by others, both internal and external to the Company, to ensure correctness of design and engineering data as well as completeness.
Provide technical support to procurement efforts including bid package assembly, bid clarification responses, and technical bid evaluations.
Provide on-site, both onshore and offshore, construction, commissioning, startup and operational assistance.
Develop regulatory submittals (e.g. BSEE, USCG, and ABS).
Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications(Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
Must have a BS degree or higher in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering;
• For candidates with engineering degrees attainedoutside the U.S., the candidate must have attained an E.I.T. designation from aU.S. based state licensing board;
Requires five (5) to nine (9) years' experience in engineering design of offshore oil and gas or related industrial facilities;
Active Professional Engineering license preferred but not required;
Familiarity with engineering and design requirements for projects associated with oil and gas production facilities and equipment installations, including regulatory compliance (BSEE, USCG, ABS, DNV) as well as applicable codes and standards (CFR, API, ASME, NFPA);
• Experience withdeveloping sizing calculations, technical specifications, drawings, and datasheets associated with oil and gas production facilities including equipment,instrumentation, and specialty piping items;
• Requiresexperience performing and documenting engineering studies associated with oiland gas production facilities;
Requires the ability to travel to client sites, both onshore and offshore;
Availability and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously;
Availability and ability to work overtime as needed based on project;
Strong written and verbal communications skills with the ability to interact with staff at all levels;
Ability to interact with staff at all levels.
WorkingConditions:
• Work is primarily conducted in an officeenvironment (Private or Semi-Private office) but may require occasional travelto off-site work locations;
• Field duties may require outdoor work in aplant or offshore platform atmosphere;
• Interaction with other team members, as wellas supervisors and client personnel;
• Working offshore or in plant and/or shop areasaround production machinery with extreme noise levels;
• Must be able to wear safety equipment asrequired by the safety department for personal protection;
• May be at more than one job site in a day andmust be able to tolerate climate changes;
• May be required to travel out of town on aperiodic basis.
Must be able to lift and carry twenty (20) pounds;
Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits employee to communicate effectively;
Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time;
Sufficient vision or other powers of observation which permits employee to conduct analysis and investigations;
Sufficient manual dexterity which permit the employee to perform routine office duties;
Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-site locations.
