Position Summary: The Director of Workforce Engagement is a critical role responsible for fostering strong relationships with external partners, industries, and workforce organizations. The Director identifies, cultivates, and manages industry partnerships that generate revenue, heighten awareness for academic programs, and create reciprocal value for both parties. The Director is responsible for developing initiatives to enhance the University’s reputation, facilitate partnerships, and promote workforce development programs. The Director conducts a range of outreach from needs assessments to large scale information sessions and presentations. They also represent the programs at various events regionally and nationally as needed, delegating to team members and coordinating across teams in the College as appropriate.

Duties and Responsibilities: Strategic Partnerships
  • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with industry leaders, workforce agencies, and non-profit organizations for educational and training opportunities – including custom professional education offerings as well as enrollment in public courses.
  • Negotiate and manage partnerships to benefit the College, University and its students.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the College’s visibility and reputation through the provision of education and training.
  • Collaborate with Assistant Dean to set and achieve annual goals for professional education – sustaining and growing revenue to the College.
  • Expand and execute existing efforts to increase diversity and access to professional education at the College.
  • Liaise with central university marketing team to consider appropriate marketing channels, to effectively highlight programs and initiatives geared towards employer partners.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including faculty, students, staff, alumni, and university constituents with the goal of continuing to increase the breadth, quality and diversity of employer-sponsored students enrolled in CPS professional education programs.
  • Attend events regionally, nationally, and virtually.
  • Partner with Enrollment and Admissions teams to build strategic partnerships and enrollment pipelines for professional education programs.
  • Develop strong culture of data reporting and analysis to drive results and continuous improvement. Prepare regular reports for stakeholders, including formal end-of-year annual reports on impact.
  • Partner with College Leadership to recommend and assess potential new subject offerings and / or new types of offerings based on needs and interest of industry partners and prospective clients.
  • Work closely with other members of the College to ensure employers understand the depth and breadth of partnership opportunities with the University. Connect employers as appropriate to offices and personnel with beneficial resources.
Professional Education & Workforce Development Programming
  • Oversee the development and implementation of professional education programs, including open enrollment and custom offerings while evaluating new delivery models for the university, partnering with internal teams on execution.
  • Collaborate with academic departments in other colleges to identify workforce needs and develop relevant offerings for employer-sponsored programs.
  • Build relationships with employers to understand their workforce needs and align programs accordingly.

Business Development Processes
  • Oversee the entire business development process for employer partnerships, from identifying potential partner organizations to the sales cycle and handoff to enrollment teams.
  • Implement and manage systems to track sales activities and customer data.
  • Develop and refine sales tools, group and customized agreements.
  • Partner with legal to develop any necessary contracts or other documentation.

Additional Duties
  • Attend work groups and committees internally related to workforce and employer relations.
  • Explore opportunities for external board and association memberships, where applicable.
  • Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Formal Education
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field. An equivalent combination of education and business experience may be considered.

Work Experience
  • 7-10 years’ experience in a corporate development function with progressive responsibility and experience leading complex relationships.
  • Experience developing targeted, compelling, and effective communications messages; managing projects, deadlines, and priorities; planning, coordinating, and executing events; managing relationships with various constituents.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and delivering presentations and other public speaking activities.
  • Significant experience in higher education, government relations, or business development.
  • Experience in building Leadership and C-Suite level partnerships in a corporate / non-profit / organizational setting.

Specific Job Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of the non-credit/executive education/micro-credential/stackable credential/corporate learning and development market and trends.
  • Demonstrated success in higher education or human resources recruiting initiatives and a track record of success in quantifying results.

Equipment Knowledge
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and CRM Tools.

  • The individual must have a deep commitment to the well-being of the College of Professional Studies and the University, a commitment to the University’s Catholic/Augustinian heritage, and the advancement of its mission, and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
  • This position requires attendance at occasional early morning, evening, or weekend programs and events.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
Preferred Qualifications: Work Experience
  • Experience in a university setting is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing effective partnership strategies for the adult population within professional education offerings is a plus.
  • Experience in grant writing and fundraising preferred.

Specific Job Knowledge (e.g., knowledge of principles and procedures related to field and area)
  • Knowledge of regulations and compliance requirements related to professional education programs and reporting requirements preferred.

Equipment Knowledge
  • Salesforce knowledge is a plus.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours: Occasional extended periods of sitting, standing, and driving (valid driver’s license is required) required.
