Position Summary: The Sustainable Engineering Program at Villanova University has an opening for a full-time non tenure-track teaching faculty position. Candidates will be considered for an Assistant Teaching Professor rank commensurate with their education and experience. This is an academic year appointment, renewable subject to enrollment needs, availability of funding, and performance. The Program is looking for a versatile faculty member that can contribute to and enhance the Program. The successful candidate will teach graduate courses in sustainable engineering and undergraduate courses in engineering with a sustainable engineering focus and. The successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively in the classroom and across project topics with faculty in the program and across the college. The appointment begins in August 2025.

Duties and Responsibilities: The main responsibility is to serve as the primary faculty in the area of sustainable infrastructure and materials, specifically to teach sustainable materials and design, sustainable infrastructure, sustainable buildings and operations, and develop new courses in this area. Additional teaching responsibilities include teaching the Resilient Innovation through Sustainable Engineering (RISE) industry-led project course, other core Sustainable Engineering graduate courses, and the undergraduate 1st year engineering design course. Other responsibilities include mentoring and advising graduate students on plans of study, graduate capstone or thesis projects, and professional development; and service to the program and college, including in leading College efforts on bringing sustainable engineering to all disciplines. The candidate is also expected to maintain a presence on campus and be responsive to students as a full-time member of the faculty for the duration of the appointment.
Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. in an engineering discipline (or closely related field) is preferred and practical design experience such as in industry or a national lab is highly desirable. Previous teaching experience is preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a prerequisite.
