The Pathways Coordinator is responsible for promoting and managing pathway programs within the School of Education, Health, and Human Behavior (SEHHB) at SIUE. The coordinator will work closely with stakeholders to ensure a seamless transition for students from recruitment to enrollment. This role involves developing and implementing effective recruitment and retention strategies, managing relationships with high schools, community colleges, healthcare facilities, community organizations, and corporations, and providing academic advising to support students’ educational journeys within SEHHB pathway programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment & Enrollment Management:Develop and implement recruitment and enrollment strategies to attract prospective students to SEHHB pathway programs.Serve as the primary administrator for managing recruitment and retention goals for pathway programs.Travel to Illinois and regional high schools, community colleges, school districts, healthcare facilities, community organizations, and corporations to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships.Facilitate prospective student contacts, including one-on-one meetings, participation in on-campus events such as Preview SIUE, Open Houses, Admitted Student Days, Career Fairs, and community-based outreach events.Provide assessments for prospective students, including program advisement, transcript reviews, and matching students with appropriate pathway programs based on academic and personal goals.

  • Academic Advising & Support:Provide academic advising services to students in the Pathway programs, guiding them through short-term and long-term academic planning.Recommend courses based on academic program of study and provide strategies for enhancing student academic progress.Support students with Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) procedures where applicable to optimize career readiness and program completion.Advise additional students within SEHHB as needed, providing tailored academic guidance and solutions.

  • Collaborative Partnerships & Relationship Building:Establish and nurture relationships with education, health, corporate, and community entities to enhance recruitment, enrollment, and retention of students in SEHHB pathway programs.Coordinate and promote SEHHB’s presence at relevant community and educational events to increase awareness of available programs.

  • Marketing & Communication Support:Work with SEHHB departments and University Marketing to create communications that enhance the visibility and marketability of pathway programs.Contribute to the development of marketing materials, including content for social media and event-specific communications, to attract and retain students.Help organize and promote events that support the recruitment and retention of students in SEHHB programs.

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in college student personnel administration, higher education student affairs, or closely related field such as counseling, education, or business/marketing.
  • Three years experience working in higher education including student advisement or recruiting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidates should demonstrate excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, as well as collaboration, organization and planning skills.
  • Experience coordinating and directing programs that promote student retention and success.
  • Experience in event planning and engagement; ability to coordinate multiple projects concurrently; coordination of student events/organizations.
  • Experience with college recruitment in teaching, administration, applied health, and psychology.
  • Experience with a computerized student information system (Banner or other).

International students at SIUE on F-1 or J-1 visas are not eligible for full-time or part-time civil service positions with permanent status.
