Job Description:




Binghamton University, consistently ranked among the top public universities in the nation, is seeking tenure track faculty members (at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full, with possibility of leadership negotiable), to be part of its growing Department of Social Work, which includes both an MSW (a long-standing brick and mortar program and a new exclusively online program) and growing BSW program. The Department of Social Work is part of Binghamton University's College of Community and Public Affairs (CCPA). CCPA is composed of five departments: Human Development, Public Administration, Social Work, Student Affairs Administration, and Teaching, Learning, and Educational Leadership, as well as an interdisciplinary doctoral program in Community Research and Action, all of which prepare students for community-building professions. CCPA is located in the heart of the city of Binghamton, in close proximity to local agencies with which faculty frequently partner.

Requirements:




The successful candidates will join a dynamic, creative team of cutting-edge scholars and educators, who are committed to preparing students for multi-level social work practice grounded in social justice principles. The ideal candidate will be able to teach courses across programs (BSW, MSW, MSW online) in generalist and advanced generalist social work. The typical teaching load is two courses per semester. This position also carries the additional expectations of service, as well as a demonstrated commitment to an active research agenda. We encourage applications from candidates of all specializations and areas of study, including faculty whose research and teaching strategies reflect antiracist, anti-oppressive approaches. Ideal candidates for this position are invested in fostering inclusive, equitable environments for teaching and learning, have experiences teaching online, and/or have experience or familiarity with CSWE accreditation or reaffirmation processes.





Required:




Doctoral degree or anticipate having on conferred by August 2025.





Preferred:





  • MSW degree from a CSWE-Accredited Institution

  • PhD in social work or social welfare

  • Two years post MSW full-time social work experience

  • Experience teaching and/or developing asynchronous courses online?

  • Scholarly research and teaching that incorporates a social justice focus

  • Knowledge of or experience with anti-oppressive practices

  • Secured external funding

  • Experience with CSWE accreditation or reaffirmation




All successful candidates must have a clear research trajectory and be able to demonstrate a commitment to a high-quality research agenda that is commensurate with rank.
