This commitment to scholarship and inquiry reflects the University's commitment to "challenge convention and change our world" and to address issues of critical importance to society. It is also reflected by Clark's many national and international distinctions, including recognition for its diversity and inclusion efforts, innovation, community engagement and impact, as a top green campus, and for having a distinguished geography and international development program. Clark has also been included in the groundbreaking Colleges that Change Lives guide since it was first published in 1996.

Clark is located in Worcester, Massachusetts, a dynamic, diverse city "on the rise." The second largest city in New England, Worcester is home to 11 institutions of higher learning and is increasingly recognized for its growing healthcare and biotechnology communities, its thriving cultural scene, and as a vibrant food hub.

Job Description:

The Economics Department at Clark University invites applications for an open-rank Visiting Professor position starting in fall 2025. This is a full-time, one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal or conversion to a tenure-track position, contingent on performance and funding availability; a very strong candidate may negotiate a two-year appointment to start. We seek candidates whose research focuses on the macroeconomic impacts of climate change and who have demonstrated ability to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Macroeconomic Growth at the PhD level, Environmental Economics at the undergraduate level, and other core or elective courses for the undergraduate program. We welcome applications from new PhDs as well as those who have recently retired or are on leave from other academic institutions. We are particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to interdisciplinary initiatives within the University's new School of Climate, Environment and Society (CES), which will launch in fall 2025.

Requirements:

Applicants should submit a current CV; a research statement; a recent research paper; a teaching statement and evidence of teaching effectiveness (if available); three letters of recommendation and a one-page diversity statement describing how, through their research, teaching, and/or service, they may help advance Clark's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. For tenured applicants, the reference letters are not required until the final interview state (On-Campus or virtual). Review of applications will begin in January 2025 and continue until the position if filled.
