Job Description:




The Department of Computer Science at Clark University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in Computer Science starting Fall 2024. The position is non-tenure track with a contract of one to three years.




We look for an energetic and independent colleague who can thrive in the environment of a small urban liberal arts research university and contribute to the success and diversity of our community.




The primary role of teaching faculty members at Clark encompasses maintaining an active teaching program, curriculum development, student advising, and service. Teaching faculty are key contributors to the academic mission of the university, that is to prepare students to meet the challenges of a complex and rapidly changing society. At Clark, we value commitment to excellence in traditional academic disciplines as well as innovation in exploring questions that cross disciplinary boundaries. The Department of Computer Science values and promotes interdisciplinary collaborations. Several opportunities exist for development of interdisciplinary coursework with programs across the university. We will support faculty interested in maintaining an active research program. The teaching load is 6 course equivalents per academic year, which normally corresponds to 4 courses, each with a lab section.




Our faculty are committed researchers and teachers, and actively collaborate with faculty at Clark and other universities, including nearby institutions in Boston. Our students participate in original research, place very highly in programming contests and hackathons, and our graduates have enrolled in distinguished academic institutions or are hired by leading private companies. Requirements:




Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field at the time of appointment. Candidates with a master's degree in computer science or closely related field will be eligible for appointment as Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor. PhD candidates with ABD status are also encouraged to apply. Ideal candidates will have a capacity to teach a variety of Computer Science and Data Science courses.
