Caterpillar's Mining Technical Representative is primarily responsible for assisting with product problem management within an assigned territory to maximize customer loyalty while minimizing the commercial impact of customer complaints related to products, applications, and maintenance requirements through appropriate and timely use of resources. As a member of the Field Technical Support team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture.
What you will do:
Lead and coach dealers through the Dealer Product Problem Management process to ensure our mining customers achieve maximum machine Uptime.
Lead New Machine/Market Introduction (NMI) programs to ensure successful ramp ups of new mining machines to territories.
Administer company Goodwill settlements and work with service specialists to ensure dealers have the technical capability to identify and repair product deficiencies. You will counsel dealers in managing Product Improvement Programs cost-effectively and within designated time frames and provide technical guidance and counsel dealers on presentations designed to inform customers of service advantages. Decisions made by you are more complex and have greater risk issues than those associated with the less experienced representatives. Challenges include meeting expectations in delivering results, considering alternative courses of actions, making timely decisions, and developing greater communication skills.
Understand customer/dealer market needs and build an understanding of how and why decisions are made within your workgroup and organization. You will be responsible for applying those decisions to support and develop product sales, dealer effectiveness, overall segment growth, process improvement, sales management process improvement, etc. You will also learn to apply knowledge of products, technology, industry, etc., in support of Caterpillar, dealer and customer expectations and needs.
Your development and continual learning will be directed through experience and staying abreast of technology changes. Key learning comes from gaining experience in the assigned industry, developing communication and people relationship skills, improving problem solving techniques, building business skills, enhancing use of Caterpillar systems and developing leadership abilities.
What skills you will have:
Technical Excellence : Experience in a field position (or working closely with Dealers and customers). Experience in product support & marketing areas. Strong understanding of Enterprise products and services.
Customer Focus : Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions. Effective Communications : Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Service Excellence: Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques; ability to meet or exceed customer needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner.
Problem Solving : Knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
Top Candidates will also have:
Mining Experience.
6-Sigma or project management experience.
Knowledge of Caterpillar products, policies, and procedures.

The primary location for this position is Tucson, Arizona.
This position may require 50% travel.
Summary Pay Range: $123,480.00 - $185,280.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
