Responsibilities

Basic Purpose

Ensures achievement of daily plant production obligations in an engaged and collaborative manner. Serves as a leader within a generation plant and acts as a role model for direct reports and peers across the fleet. Ensures the plant maintains a culture of flexibility to meet the priorities of safety, teamwork, reliability, and regulatory compliance. Supervises projects, planning activities, and bargaining unit employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Ensures unit availability and reliability to meet daily plant production obligations and corporate goals.

  • Implements and monitors adherence to company procedures, standards, and best practices.
  • Ensures that the company is in compliance with all state and federal regulations.
  • Responds to emergency situations at any hour of the day or night.
  • Fosters a flexible work culture, adaptable to unit dispatch and unplanned events.
  • Promotes environmental awareness and ensures regulatory compliance.
  • Schedules and coordinates services for crews, equipment, and plant.
  • Provides planning services including parts procurement and logistic support for unit outages and corrective/preventive work orders.
  • Organizes and prioritizes work for timely completion including applicable documentation and record keeping utilizing computerized work management system and department procedures.
  • Provides accurate and timely reporting on various aspects of plant equipment and production.
  • Identifies, recommends, and executes plant improvement projects.

Provides vision, leadership and direction for employees and team. Serves an integral role in an active leadership team, keeping the plant unified in achieving the objectives.

  • Ensures effective communication and promotes customer relationship in all activities.
  • Leads teams toward productive excellence by identifying and resolving opportunities for safety, environmental, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Ensures all training requirements are met for both contract and company employees.
  • Participates in plant staffing and budget decisions.
  • Resolves employee conflicts as needed.
  • Mentors, develops, and manages performance of employees through observation and feedback.

    Maintains a productive and engaged staff through high expectations of productivity and quality standards acting as a role model of safety, reliability, and plant teamwork.

  • Ensures team members’ success by providing the support, tools, training, and development opportunities to perform each job safely, economically, and efficiently.
  • Coordinates and monitors work assignments for staff working in various capacities to assure adherence to prescribed timelines, regulatory and safety compliance.
  • Ensures compliance with the terms of collective bargaining agreement and applicable labor law and coordinates with Company’s Labor Relations Department to provide timely and accurate responses to grievances and Union requests for information.

Represents the plant on fleet-wide initiatives, goals, and objectives. Actively serves and/or leads fleet-wide committees providing process improvement opportunities and communication. Networks with fleet peers and management

Provides project management services including preparation of specifications, bid evaluation, QA and supervision of contractors. Advises and assists field personnel, contractors, etc. Provides Contract Administration Services ensuring relevancy and quality.

Will be assigned one or more functional roles within the plant such as: Projects & Contracts, Production Shift Work, Production Maintenance, Production Scheduling, and Planning. If assigned to a Renewable Generation Plant reporting to a Regional Director or Manager, will manage renewable generation site(s) with general direction.

Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes, and regulations applicable to position and company.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in a related area and 5 years of related experience. Candidates that do not possess a bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of 9 years of related work experience. Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated knowledge of:
  • One or more of the following areas: generating plant operations, maintenance, project management, planning and training.
  • OSHA and environmental regulations.
  • Supervisory experience
Demonstrated skill such as:
  • Written and oral communication skills.
Equipment and Applications
PCs, word processing, spreadsheet and database software. Work Environment and Physical Demands
Requires work near moving parts, with toxic or caustic chemicals, in outdoor weather conditions, and near extreme heat. Exposure to loud noises and confined spaces required.

Compensation

Annual Salary: $115,900 (Min) to $136,300 (Mid); Up to 15% Short Term Incentive Plan target opportunity at the discretion of the company. This is a non-represented position.
